He jerked his head in a nod. Kimora muttered a curse the moment he slid his hand from between her legs. If the person had texted her then called her, it must be an emergency.

At least it had better be.

Kimora displaced Kane’s other hand away from her breast. She stretched over to the nightstand and snagged her phone. She glanced at the screen and almost rolled her eyes.

Laura.

What could be so important that she was texting and calling?

“Hello?” Kimora gripped the sheet and brought it around her as she settled back against the pillows.

Kane rested alongside her, his gaze not wavering from her.

“Morning sunshine,” Laura’s bright and cheery voice greeted her.

Kimora bit her lip and immediately began thinking of ways she could sneak her friend off the phone without hinting that Kane was with her. Hell, Laura didn’t even know she’d connected with him and went out with him.

“Um, Laura. Good morning.” Kimora cleared her throat.

Kane fluffed the pillows behind his head and lay back on the bed. Her eyes were drawn to where the sheet rested on his abdomen. One that had plenty of ridges on it. One that she’d licked and trailed her tongue along. A slight bulge was waiting for her underneath the sheet. Her tongue snuck out and slid across her lips.

“What’s up?”

Kane cleared his throat. Her gaze flicked up to meet his. A smirk lingered on his lips. He motioned that she should be looking at his eyes and not his cock.

Didn’t he know what his cock felt like inside her?

Hell, that was all she could think about at the moment.

“I was calling you to invite you to brunch. I know this perfect little place on the east side of town that has a killer menu, and you can’t tell me no. I know you, Kimora. You were probably working all night on shit that you should leave for Monday?—”

“I can’t, Laura,” Kimora interjected.

“Oh, come on, Kimora. What else do you have planned? We can have a fun girls’ day brunch. Me and you?—”

“I’m not at home,” she whispered into the phone. She turned slightly away from Kane as if putting her back to him would keep him from hearing her side of the conversation.

“Oh.” Her friend paused as if shocked.

Kimora rolled her eyes. Of course Laura would be rendered speechless. Where did she go that didn’t entail her working?

“Please don’t tell me you are at the hospital in the office. If you are, then I swear I will?—”

“I promise you that I’m not at the hospital.” Kimora closed her eyes briefly and inhaled. How did she tell her that she had met with Kane and then slept over at his house on their first date?

“Is everything all right?” Kane’s warm breath skated along her naked shoulder.

She shivered and glanced over her shoulder at him. There was a twinkle in his eye that relayed he knew what he was doing. She narrowed her eyes on him. He chuckled and leaned back away from her.

“Um, friend. Was that a man’s voice I heard?” Laura practically hollered into the phone.

Kimora smiled at the excitement that was brimming through the phone. Laura’s muffled laughter could be heard.

She came back on the phone. “Who is it, and I want to know all the details.”

Kimora fought the grin that threatened to spread across her face. This reminded Kimora of her younger days when she was in college. She glanced back over at Kane. His look was challenging, as if daring her to go ahead and tell her friend where she was. With as loud as Laura was speaking, she was sure he heard every part of Laura’s side of the conversation.

“Since you are so nosy, I matched with Kane on that damn app, and no, I’m not telling you anything else,” she teased.
