Page 2 of Tasting Innocence

Violet gets up to go to the kitchen, making another drink for herself. “You want more?” she asks.

“Yeah.”

I stand up and walk in behind her, stopping too close. When I lean over to pour the watered down remnants of my drink into the sink, my crotch touches her ass and I nearly moan at the sensation. Fucking alcohol always makes me horny, and it’s not like I need much help. I’m a twenty-year-old guy for Christ’s sake.

Violet angles her head over her shoulder and narrows her eyes at me, but I shrug. So stupid. She’s probably gonna end up hating me before the night’s over.

“So what do you see in Ronan?” I ask.

“What?”

“Why do you like him?”

“Uhh, because he’s hot and nice.”

“You’re not the only one who thinks that,” I say with a chuckle.

“What do you mean? Who else thinks that?”

“Your brother,” I answer, taking another sip. “He’s probably thrilled to be locked up with him.”

She nearly spits out her drink. “What?” A drunken laugh slips between her lips. “Renzo likes Ronan? Is that why he’s been such a dick lately?”

My eyes feel heavy as I grin. “I don’t know. I guess.”

“Oh my God!” she squeals, scrambling for her phone.

Shit, I guess the alcohol has my lips a little too loose.

As she texts who I can only assume is her brother, I head to the bathroom. I splash water on my face, staring at my reflection in the mirror. I tell myself not to do anything else. I’ve really pushed the limits with touching her and flirting like she isn’t my best friend’s sister, but the alcohol has already taken effect, and all I can think about is spilling my guts to her. So what, she came here with her boyfriend? He doesn’t know her like I do. We have history.

Her voice carries down the hall, letting me know she’s now talking on the phone. Fuck, I hope Renzo isn’t pissed that I spilled about his crush.

I eventually head back into the living room and spot Violet in the kitchen rinsing out the glasses.

“Everything okay?”

She nods, a small grin on her lips. “Yep.”

“Is Zo pissed that I told you?”

She laughs. “He doesn’t get mad about much. He was honest. He thinks Ro’s hot, which I get.”

He’d get mad if I did all the things I’m thinking about doing to his sister right now.

“You going to bed?” I ask.

“Yeah, I’m just hiding evidence.”

Fuck. My time is coming to an end.

“Okay. I guess I’ll crash too,” I say, turning the TV off. When she saunters into the living room, I grin. “I’ll walk you to your room.”

She rolls her eyes and makes a noise in the back of her throat. “You’re weird.”

My warring thoughts and feelings ping pong around in my brain, and I fight with what I want to do versus what I should do. Or shouldn't in this case.

At her door, she gives me a strange look, probably wondering why I’m being weird.

“Well...goodnight.”

She hesitates, and something in her eyes gives me the courage to lean in. Before my lips can touch her, I see her move back just a fraction, so I change course and end up just kissing her on the cheek.

“Goodnight.”

Violet stares at me, shock written on her face, so I quickly turn and go to my room, cursing myself the whole way there.

I thought I saw interest and curiosity in her eyes before. As she realized what I was about to do, she probably freaked out. My drunken gaze misread the whole thing, and now I have to deal with the awkwardness that’ll follow. Maybe I can get her to talk to me tomorrow. She probably thinks it’s just because I’ve been drinking, but that’s not true.

I want her, and I’ve never wanted anyone like this before.
