“I’ll always give you a chance, Luca. You’re my addiction… one I’ll never want to break free of.”
He placed his finger under my chin, then tilted my face until my lips were just a whisper away. “I’ll forever feed that addiction.” Luca finished the distance, pressing his soft lips to mine, then molded me against him as he pulled me tight.
I moaned as his tongue pressed for access, slipping between my lips and caressing every inch of my mouth until he pulled away and smiled, then kissed me once more in a chaste kiss.
“Go to sleep. We have lots to discuss, and I need you to be clear-headed.”
Luca stepped back, putting the counter between us once again, but not before I notated the bulge against his sweats.
“Thanks for the water.”
I backed out of the kitchen, watching him pierce me with his stare.
“Hey, did you enjoy the show?”
Luca growled, then gripped the edge of the counter. “I’m going to redden your ass, Charity.”
“Promise?” I grinned while taunting him. I couldn’t help it. He was just too damn tempting not to bring out the darkness in him.
“Play with fire, you get burned.”
“You know I like the pain.” I walked out of the kitchen and back upstairs.
Luca leaned against the kitchen doorway and watched me saunter upstairs like a cat that got the cream.
Driving Luca mad was a thrill in and of itself. A task I’d never tire of.
I crawled back into bed beside Max and curled into his arms, but he didn’t stir.
Max was another task on my list that needed solving, not taunting. Something was happening with him, and I couldn't figure it out… but it’d come to light sooner or later.
My wounded head pulsedas I pulled my hair into a tight bun resting at the base of my skull, then placed pins in strategic places. I couldn’t have my hair falling out as I killed a man. That would make for a messy distraction. Leaning towards the mirror, I fixed the line of lipstick as Max meandered into the bathroom, his face inscribed with exhaustion and alcohol use.
“Good morning, Max,” I said sardonically. “Ready for the day?” I put my brush down as he wrapped his arms around me, keeping eye contact with me in the mirror. His lips brushed against my shoulder as he ground his erection into my ass, making my body buzz with excitement.
“What are your plans?”
I turned around inside his arms to face him, then wrapped mine around his neck, interlacing my fingers together. “We are going shopping.”
Max eyed me warily. “You hate shopping. What are you searching for?”
“Yes, I do. But not when it holds certain promises.”
Max narrowed his eyes. “What promises are you expecting from a store?”
“I’m in the market for a sexual adventure.”
“Uh. You’ve lost me,bella.”
I’d woken up with an idea. A way to solve the problem of getting to the senator without attracting attention or involving Nico and his firm.
“Okay, so Senator Adams holds a specific taste for blondes with a small frame… an innocent demeanor. But they also need to be malleable and never oppose him.” I paused, waiting for him to take in the crucial details so early in the morning. “Are you following?”
“I am…”
“Right.” I tilted my head. “So I’m going to seduce him.”
“Seduce him?”
