He banged on the door, and the guard escorted him out, leaving me suffocating in the cement cage I could exit at any time.

Chapter 14

Charity

Luca handed the woman his card at the register and paid for the dresses, shoes, and clutch while I laughed at all those zeros he had to pay.

"Well, that wasn't exciting at all," I said.

It amazed me how one moment you could be dress shopping and, the next, have the head of one of the most notorious cartels standing next to you. A regular person would not understand that the person they stood next to could eviscerate you at a moment's notice. It was like sitting next to a lion and having no idea how deadly it was. It didn't alarm anyone that Sabina's CartelelJefejust walked in without an issue and got close to Luca. He didn't care, and it made me want to slap him upside the head with my pistol. Why would Vito allow that? Elias said there would be 'a next time.' Was that a threat, or was it just inevitable that their paths would cross again?

"You mean to tell me you didn't enjoy ripping up that five-thousand-dollar dress?" he ground out.

"Oh no, I enjoyed that," I smirked.

Once Elias and his lapdog left, I had too much pent-up hostility and discharged it on the dress just to make the woman weep. I think she mentioned a limited edition or something to that effect while she was cleaning it up from the floor while tears streaked her porcelain face. It was a delicious feeling to watch the destruction I caused.

We walked out of the stairwell because I refused to hit the elevator button and walked to his car. Vito followed close by us, carrying the bags while I led the way, checking every shadow and corner with my gaze.

"One of these days, Charity, I'm going to put you over my knee in front of everyone."

Just thinking of my bare ass in the air with his hand warming it brought tingles down my spine and twinges in places I would gladly get on my knees and beg for him to touch me again.

"Don't make promises you won't keep, Luca." I bit my lip.

His growl was heavy enough; I could hear it several paces in front of him. I opened the back door to his Mercedes and climbed inside, purposely putting my ass in the air to see if he would take the bait. When he threw the bags in the passenger seat, I smirked, knowing I had gotten to him riled up. It was a pleasure doing business with you.

Luca slid in beside me while Vito got into the driver's side. My insides liquefied with excitement as he came close and slid his hand down my thigh. I suddenly wished I was still wearing that dress, and we were in the dressing room right now. I'd have loved to see that woman's face when I walked out thoroughly fucked and screamed my orgasm for the store to hear.

"You know I keep my word."

"Hmm. Do I, though?"

I gave in to my temptation and slid my legs over his lap to straddle him as Vito wound through the parking maze.

He grabbed handfuls of my ass and moved my hips against his thickening cock. My entire body was still experiencing the effects from Max and his punishment, causing my senses to become electrified and ready for anything. He couldn't deny me; I wouldn't allow it. I fisted his hair and tugged his head back to meet my lips in a colliding kiss that caused our teeth to clash together, adding to the promise of pain I looked forward to. My tongue slipped across his, and we fed on each other until my lungs burned for air.

"Fuck, Charity."

"Yes, please," I said as if he was asking permission. Luca didn't ask, he took it, and I gave it to him gladly. I'd let him consume all of me if it meant I could have a piece of him. I bit his lip hard to bring out the aggression I needed from him. His growl tickled my chest, and I laughed.

Luca ripped me away by my hair. "You want me to hurt you, don't you?"

"I'd be lying if I said no." My chest rose and fell quickly with anticipation from his understanding of my desire.

"You don't know what you're asking of me."

"You underestimate me too often, Luca. I know exactly what I'm asking. I want you to hurt me like you hate me, but care for me in the end like I'm your whole world."

He slowly released his hold on my hair. My lips were so close to his when I caught sight of a man I recognized in my periphery, standing by a pillar, watching our car go by. I jerked away from Luca as if someone had doused me with a bucket of cold water.

"Stop the car," I shouted. "Stop." I reached for the door, ready to jump from the moving vehicle.

Vito slammed on the breaks, and I bolted from the car while Luca tore at my shirt to keep me from leaving. I could hear a slew of curses behind me, but I didn't care as I ran towards where I saw the man standing, to find no one there. He was just here; he couldn't have gone far. I zigged and zagged between parked cars, looking under and in some. But he wasn't here. How was that possible? I raked my fingers through my hair and pulled with frustration. My chest heaved for air for a different reason now. Footfalls echoed behind me, and I turned to find Vito and Luca running with their guns drawn.

"What is it, Charity? What happened?" Concern shook Luca's confident voice.

"He was here. I saw him."
