A servant with a tray passed and the female slipped the empty glass on the platter and snagged two more so seamlessly the servant didn’t even pause. “I hear you like to tie and gag your partners. But I promise, I know how to beg.”
Roxy’s heart rate ratcheted up as she took the wine offered, drowning in those pale blue eyes – such a contrast to the brown hair and dusky skin. “I’ve never had someone beg before. If you do it poorly, am I allowed to punish you?”
“With vengeance.” The stranger took another step forward so they shared air, her fingertips a phantom over Roxy’s hips, her waist, the underside of her breasts. “But I promise you won’t need to…unless you ask me nicely.”
She had to close her eyes to regain some semblance of control. Roxy had no idea who she was, and what she wanted, but the female knew her preferences and how to distract. Without opening her eyes, Roxy snatched her wrist, gripping hard enough to grind bones together to keep those delicate fingers from her face.
“I’m not interested, but I appreciate the offer.”
The female pouted. “What, no fun?”
Roxy grabbed the female’s hips hard enough to bruise and yanked her against her own. Her hands scoured every curve, every dip and bend until her hands were buried in soft hair. Her fingertips snagged the sharp, metal stiletto pinned in those lovely brown curls. The bun tumbled around the girl’s shoulders and Roxy tossed it in her poisoned wine.
“Looks like you’ll have to beat me fair and square.”
The female grinned ruthlessly. “Can’t blame me for trying.”
Roxy grabbed the brown mass of hair and yanked hard. The female fell to her knees to keep Roxy from ripping every strand from her head. “Try that again, or when I’m Queen of Thieves and I’ll take your eyes myself.” Roxy leaned forward, her lips brushing against the female’s ear. “It’s a family trait,” she whispered.
When she released her hair the female remained on her knees, the grin had never once wavered. “You’re as good as they say. Perhaps you should tie me up after all.”
“Tempting, but I have other matters to attend to. Find me again when you’re no longer feeling homicidal and I’ll consider it.” Roxy stalked off and tossed the wine and the stiletto into one of the trash chutes and kept walking until she was back under the stars where she could breathe.
Not even one hour and the challenges had already begun.
