“Mm, there are a couple I like. I loveGrease, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Dirty Dancing, Say Anything, andGhost.”

“I think that even guys love most of those movies,” Lane said. “Anything with Patrick Swayze in it is amazing.”

“Oh, I know. The originalRed Dawn,Road House, andNext of Kinare amazing. I’ve probably seen all of those a million times and I never get tired of them.”

“It was a very sad day when Patrick Swayze died. He was so young.”

“He was. Patrick was my third huge crush.”

“Third?”

“Yeah. I’ve been in love with John Schneider since I was about two. Then, I added Lou Diamond Phillips to the list, and then Patrick Swayze.”

“Aren’t you a little young for them?”

Taylor shook her head vehemently. “Nope. There are very few good, hot actors in the younger generations. There are a ton of greats from the olden days.”

“You mean from our parents’ generation.”

“Yep, the olden days. Come on. You can’t tell me that you didn’t think that Farrah Fawcett, Jacquelyn Smith, Catherine Bach, and Heather Locklear weren’t gorgeous,” she teased.

“They were, but I always went for the girl next door look like Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, and Drew Barrymore.”

They held hands and laughed, missing most of the movie. Taylor couldn’t remember when she had that much fun. It had been at least a year.

Lane stood up when the movie ended. “I had a great time, but I better get back.”

“I had a lot of fun,” Taylor said.

He pulled her close to him and wrapped his arms around her. Lane smells so good, like a combination of pine andsomething else. Her heart is thumping and she melts against him as he holds her tight.

Lane brushed a kiss across her lips and, with a grin, walked out the door.

Taylor stares at the closed door, touching her lips, in complete shock. She doesn’t know which is more astonishing – that he kissed her or that she loved the feel of his lips pressed against hers.

Chapter 5: Lane

“I can’t believe I just did that,” he muttered to himself as he walked back to the house. “The hug maybe. The kiss. Wow.”

He grinned. “Not sorry, though. She certainly didn’t seem to mind.”

Colton was sitting in his usual chair on the porch. “Another date night with Taylor?” he asked, raising his eyebrows.

“I guess you would call it an all day and night date,” Lane said. “We went to church together, had lunch, drove through the Garden of the Gods, and watched a movie together after dinner.”

“Impressive,” Colton said.

“I’ve only known her a couple of days, but I feel like there’s something there. I even kissed her.”

“Really?” Colton said. “How did she take it?”

“She didn’t scream, push me away, or throat punch me,” Lane said.

“Those are all good signs,” Colton said.

“We held hands for most of the day, so I think she digs me,” Lane joked.

“It sounds like it.”
