My hands slowly released the blanket. I slipped out of bed and realized just how tender I was. Every single muscle was stiff.

We are so pleased that he has found his mate.” The two women looked at one another before their eyes turned back to me. “He tried not to show it, but he’s been very lonely, and he is an amazing leader. My old herd was terrible and run by an evil Alpha who abused us, but since Alpha Solaris killed him and took us in, we have known nothing but kindness. We also get to do all the things that the males get to do.”

“Like be guards,” I offered, and they smiled.

“Yes,” Willow said as she walked over to the tub and turned on the water. She poured in a small satchel of crystals. “These will help with your aching muscles.”

I didn’t like to hear that Sol was lonely, and yet my heart would’ve hurt to think of him with another. I couldn’t imagine what he must have felt when he heard about all the men who had used me.

“Monarch, are you okay? Did we upset you,” Lily asked.

I shook my head. “No, I just. I refuse to question the why of the Goddess, and yet I feel like I have nothing to offer Sol. I have no land or herd. My father gave me away. There is no dowry to collect, and I haven’t been able to shift for so long that I don’t think I can now.” I looked down. “I want to believe what Sol does and that what happened to me was to make me a better leader, but it is difficult to see that much green on this side of the forest.”

“Alpha would not mince his words, and if he believes that then so should you.” Willow walked over and took my hands into hers. “What I know is that I have never seen him so happy. There is a glow around him, and he is oozing more power than ever before, and that is because of you. An Alpha does not gain power from lands or dowry alone. The mate bond can increase an Alpha’s ability so much so that they are invincible. You are powerful and have already brought him and this herd so much. Now come, let’s get you clean so that you can have something to eat and see your very sexy Alpha.”

By the time I emerged from the bedroom, my stomach hurt from laughing so hard. Willow and Lily were exceptionally kind to me, and although it was strange to be waited on like this, I appreciated their help and company.

I’d been given many options of what to wear but decided on a powder blue dress that I thought looked lovely with my eyes. They dried my hair, leaving most of it down, but pinned part of itup and weaved little blue flowers into the style. For the first time in my life, I felt beautiful.

I could sense Solaris before we walked into the dining hall. His deep voice and mate scent reached me at the same time, and I sucked in a deep breath of that dark musk that told me he was mine. He was not alone in the hall. Two men who looked to be highly-ranked officers were with him as Sol pointed out something on a large piece of parchment. As soon as he looked up, he smiled and marched around the long table to greet me. There was no little peck on the lips or brief embrace.

Sol cupped my cheeks and kissed me as if we were alone in the room. I clung to the thick leather strap that crossed his chest to keep myself upright as my head spun. The soft rumble coming from him as he broke the kiss had an instant effect, and I wiggled as the area between my legs became very wet.

“I love this color on you,” he said, the rasp back in his voice, making me blush. “Let me introduce you to my second and third.” Sol guided me back to the two men who were quietly watching us. “This is my second in command, Chase, and this is my third, Shale.”

I held out my hand to shake theirs, but they stepped back and bowed their heads. “We apologize, Monarch. Unless it is to protect you or an emergency, we cannot touch you,” Chase said.

My mouth opened as I looked up at Sol.

“I told you. I will kill anyone who touches you. I meant it. My herd has been warned that the men are not to lay a single finger on you. If you choose to help someone or you need to be protected, then of course these are extenuating circumstances, but you need never worry about a man touching you without your permission.”

Sol wrapped his arm around my waist. “Can I choose to shake their hands?” His lip twitched, and I could see that he was mulling it over.

“If it is okay with you, my Monarch, I would prefer not to out of respect for not only yourself and my Alpha but also my mate,” Chase said.

“I am unmated, but I prefer to respect Alpha’s wishes,” Shale said, and I nodded.

“Alright,” I said.

Sol leaned in and kissed the top of my head. “Can you go get Aurora’s gift, please,” he said, and they nodded and walked out, leaving us alone. “Do you trust me?”

“This should not even be a question after the last however many hours or days. I have lost track,” I said, smiling up at him.

“Good, then lift your dress and sit down.”

“You seem to be in a devilish mood.”

“I’m hungry and want to feast,” he said, and the heat spread throughout my body, reigniting the same desire as last night. Pulling up my dress and sitting down, I looked at Sol as he sniffed the air. He was naturally large, but with all the leather and weapons, he seemed impossibly huge. “Fuck, you smell like dessert,” he said as he leaned over and his hands gripped my knees. Smirking, he pushed them apart and kneeled in front of me.

I squealed as he grabbed my ass and pulled me to the edge of the chair. “Oh…yes,” I said, digging my nails into the arms of the chair as his mouth worked me over. He groaned, and even when the door opened, he didn’t stop. When I saw who had walked in, I tensed and tried to jerk away, but Sol held me firm. His relentless tongue continued to lick and tease me until I no longer cared if there were a thousand people standing around watching.

I came and moaned his name as the orgasm rocked my body. As soon as Sol was done licking the inside of my legs, he held out his hand and helped me stand. I didn’t know why he had Merk and Jarvis brought in, but they stood with their arms behind their backs, completely naked. “Bend over the table,” Sol growled, and at first, I wasn’t sure who he was talking to. His eyes were on the men who had been brought in, but the guards with them never budged. I looked up at Sol. He tapped my arm and pointed to the massive table. I glanced down at what he’d been studying earlier and realized it was a map of my father’s land. This was all very confusing, but I said I’d trust him, so I bent over the table.
