Page 28 of Love and War

Two hours later, we were back in my car headed towards Walmart to grab cat supplies, after the vet checked her out, confirming it was female. She only had minor injuries, dehydration, and she was starving. I tried my best to ignore Killian the whole time we were there. Only it was extremely difficult when he sat directly next to me and had the whole man-spread down. His knee was always bumping into mine. Then when we were in the actual room, he kept his hand resting on my thigh, making sure he was touching me the whole time.

Then when it came time to pay for the vet bill, I nearly kneed him in the balls. I had a good income. I was decently well off. A few hundred for a vet bill wasn’t going to break me. But Killian refused to let me. He nearly tackled me when I tried taking my wallet out.

“Moya Printsessa, we’re here.”

Peeking over at him, his eyes were already on me. Watching me in that way that made my panties want to melt off me. I shivered under his gaze.

“Don’t do that,” he growled.

“Do what?” I asked, already knowing what he meant.

“Unless you want me to pull your pants down and sink my cock into you, let’s go.”

“Right,” I murmured. Cuddling her up to my chest, I waited for Killian to round my car before helping me out. Walking into the store, Killian stayed at my side. His hand rested against my back the entire time as I kept the little kitten close to my chest. Her head rested in the nook of my neck, snoring softly in my ear.

Making our way to the animal section, Killian cursed under his breath.

“What?” I asked. Glancing around I tried finding the reason for it, but I found nothing.

“I forgot a cart. Stay here, and pick out what you need. I’ll be right back.” Kissing my forehead, he ran off.

Letting out a sigh, I did as he asked, glancing at the different things she was going to need. When I found her, I knew right away I was going to keep her, and it appeared Killian knew that as well. I knew I should have told him to just leave me alone. That I could drop him off at Salem’s. But for some reason I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I enjoyed that he was spending time with me. Even if my heart tightened with pain every time I saw him, remembering he’d left me with no word.

The little kitten let out a small meow before curling up closer to my neck. Smiling, I continued walking down the aisle, finding different things I wanted to get her.

“Excuse me, ma’am,” a man's voice called from behind me.

Swinging around, an older man, probably late forties, stepped towards me. Raising a brow, I waited for him to continue talking.

“You’re not allowed to bring animals in here.”

“Uh, okay.” I just needed to find Killian and tell him to get basically everything then. I could wait in the car.

“So, I’m going to need you to leave.”

“Yeah, I got that.” Except my legs didn’t work, my feet were planted, stuck like glue to the floor.

“Excuse me!” the man in front of me snapped. “I’m not going to tell you again; you can’t have animals unless that is a service animal in here,” he hissed.

“I heard you the first time,” I drawled.

Finally my limbs seemed to work, and I turned away from him. Suddenly my shoulders were pulled back causing me to drop her on the ground as the man pushed me a little.

“Leave now!” he snapped.

“What the fuck is your problem? Don’t touch me!”

His hand gripped my shoulder once more. I don’t know what got his panties in a bunch, but I readied my leg to knee him in the balls, never getting the chance, because he was thrown off me. Killian breathed heavily as he towered over the man. His hands clenched into fists at his side, his face red with anger.

“Sh– she can’t have an–animals in here,” he stammered out.

Looking down at the ground I scooped her up, cuddling her to my chest.

“She can do whatever the fuck she pleases!” Killian snapped, bending closer to the man's face. “You touched her.”

“I–I…” he said, trailing off, realizing that he did grab my shoulder.

“Name.”
