Another blow to my face forced me to come back to the now. I could feel the blood dripping down my face, the ache in my ribs. They were either broken or bruised badly.

“You know you’re really stupid to think you could just come here and try to take me out.” Orlando laughed. It was an ugly laugh; it always had been. He laughed when he ripped my sister in half. He laughed when they tore my brother apart.

They all laughed.

Just like they were now.

Laughing at me.

Locking eyes with the man coming at me again, I threw my leg up kicking him in the stomach. The moment he went down I threw my elbow into a headlock. Twisting his arm I threw him over my shoulder, and he landed on his back. Kicking his head he was out cold. The one I had kicked in the stomach got up to charge at me again. Twisting around, I kicked his chin.

“Shit,” Orlando mumbled. He thought he was winning because I let two of his men get a few punches in. It was all a play.

“It’s okay, Orlando, I got you,” a very familiar voice appeared behind me. I didn’t want to turn around and face him. That voice, god, why was he even here?

“Thank fuck,” Orlando said under his breath. I don’t know why he thinks Zane would save him. But he wouldn’t.

“Is she giving you trouble?” he asked, walking past me and going straight to Orlando.

I couldn’t stop the hurt crawling around my chest that he didn’t feel the need to say anything to me. I shouldn’t feel that way. The first time I knocked him out, even though he didn’t know it was me. The second he saw me beating up two guys, and the third we didn’t talk. Yet I saved his life.

Now he’s acting like he has no idea who I am.

Once he was standing slightly in front of Orlando, he stood with his chest out, arms crossed. We both glared at each other.

“She hasn’t spoken. I don’t know if she fucking can’t or is some deaf bitch.” Orlando laughed. That annoying laugh that had me grinding my teeth. He was going to die. They both were if Zane didn’t get out of my way.

I needed to remind myself no matter what, I didn’t have room or time to care about anyone else. I was going to finish my list, then I was going to move on. That’s all that mattered, that was all that I cared about. I refused to care about Zane and the fact he left me.

Staring at both men I could see Orlando thought Zane would save him, but when he said I was a deaf bitch, something flickered over Zane. It was there one moment and gone the next. If I didn’t know better, he didn’t like that Orlando called me a bitch. Which made no sense. From the looks of it, he was here to try and save Orlando from me.

“Go home,” Zane called out.

Shaking my head, I held onto the small dagger in my hand. I know Orlando had no idea I had it, but something was different about Zane. I had a feeling he knew I had it.

“Just kill the fucking bitch,” Orlando motioned towards me.

Zane wouldn’t have the chance to kill me.

Rolling my eyes, I braced myself for whatever Zane would do next.

“Go.Home,” he demanded. Funny because him trying to be dominant would not work. I was the monster here; I wouldn’t submit to him. I never would. “For fucks sake, I really don’t want to fight you. But I have orders, go home,” Zane spit out at me.

Orders?

Orders to fight me, or save Orlando?

Either way I refused to back down. If he wanted a fight, then I’d give him one, but I wasn’t leaving without Orlando dead.

“Seriously, just fucking kill the stupid bitch. She’s obviously a mental case and needs to be taught a fucking lesson.”

I was getting real sick of him calling me a bitch, and him opening his mouth in general.

“Fuck,” Zane muttered. Stepping forward, he walked closer to me, reaching towards my arm. I moved out of his way. “Seriously, fucking leave. I’m not in the mood to deal with whatever is happening here,” he snarled at me. His words were saying something, but his eyes were soft. Or as soft as they could be for someone who was rough.

If he hadn’t shown up, I could have Orlando killed and be halfway home by now. Halfway to taking a good shower and having a good night's rest.

Zane reached for my arm again.
