Drip. Drip. Drip.
Blood trickled down my chin landing on the gravel road. The gun pressed to my temple, ready to blow my brains out, had Tobias screaming his lungs out, begging for them to spare me. I couldn’t even look up.
I had no idea where Dimitri was. Probably dead.
When I woke up, I had no time to prepare as my hands were tied behind my back, my ankles tied together. Mila sat next to me, her body also tied together. Tobias sat in front of us, unable to move from the look of his swollen ankle. But Dimitri was gone.
Even as I tried to look around, I could only see a construction site. Mila had tape over her mouth so she couldn’t speak. I could feel her eyes on me as I struggled to breathe. After taking so many beatings you get used to it, but somehow this felt all too different.
“Where is she?” Dante asked us again. I refused to ask who he was referring to. Mila also knew I wouldn’t talk. “You can tell us where she is, and I will let the boy down easy. Quick and easy,” Dante taunted, holding a knife in front of Mila’s face.
“Pl-please just l-let us g-g-go,” Tobias screamed. His voice trembled with fear. It was a fear I wanted to take away from him. I just couldn’t.
All this was my fault. I shouldn’t have gotten involved with Salem. I shouldn’t have done so many things. I should have been training harder and been on watch instead of thinking of her.
I was so focused on what was going on inside my head, I didn’t realize Dante had his brass knuckles until I felt the pain spread through my face. My breath left my lungs, as I tried holding all my pain together.
“Fuck it, grab the boy,” Dante ordered. “I hope you enjoy the show!” He chuckled.
Just as one of his men went to grab onto Tobias who was screaming even more, thrashing around, a loud range of bullets stopped everyone in their tracks. A black Bugatti Chiron Super Sport shootout roared in, tires screeching as two bikes hit the bumper before flying off and whoever was riding the bikes flew off.
A loud explosion went off behind us, sending me and Mila face first into the dirt. Just as a pair of hands began tugging on my ankles, just as I was about ready to fight my way through, I heard, “Calm down.”
Killian.
I wanted to ask a million questions, most importantly where had he been. But I didn’t have time for that. My hands are let go, and he shoved a knife and gun into them.
He climbed over to Mila and began untying her binds. Tobias was nowhere to be seen, and all I saw was smoking from the explosion along with dirt flying up from the car.
The moment her tape was ripped off she started yelling, “Where is Tobias? Oh my god, Killian, where are they?” she begged over and over again.
“I don’t know, sweets; my job is just to get you two out,” he whispered. I don’t know why the fuck he whispered since this place was going off like it was the fucking Fourth of July.
We all barely climbed to our feet before a large SUV pulled up and Killian was dragging Mila to the back seat. Following because I had no idea what else was going on, we climbed into the back.
Aziza in the front seat driving surprised the fuck out of me, along with the fact that Dimitri was sitting right next to her. The moment the back door closed, Aziza hit the gas and we were off.
“Someone better start fucking explaining to me WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!” Mila screamed, smacking Dimitri on the arm before turning her attention towards us.
Throwing my hands up, I agreed with her that I would also like to know what was going on.
“Aziza, just go a little further and then get out,” Dimitri ordered, turning his gaze back to his wife. “Aziza is going to take you to a safehouse she has set up. We’re going to meet up with them later,” he said as she slowed down just enough for Killian to climb into the front seat and take over for her.
Mila didn’t have a chance to speak before Aziza opened the back door and grabbed her. In a blink of an eye, Killian was driving off heading in the same direction we just came from.
“Fine, don’t tell your wife what’s going on,” I muttered. “Are you going to tell me?” I said a little louder from the back seat. “Also, who the fuck was driving that car that took out those men?” I barely got that out before the SUV became target practice for multiple guns.

Salem
IalwaysknewIwas going to die early.
I also knew that when I died I wanted to wear my parents' wedding ring, which sat on a long chain around my neck.
The moment I get a clear view of them, two bikes tried to run me off the dirt road. Shifting the wheel to the right just a fraction caused both bikes to hit my bumper, and both men flew off and landed in an unnatural way. I know I shouldn't but my gaze fell to Zane and Mila, both of who are now lying on their fronts as Killian came out between two large construction trucks.
