“What's going on?” Killian asked. Ignoring him I made work of going to the security cameras I had installed without Salem knowing.

“SOMEONES IN THE HOUSE,” he began screaming so loud my ears rang. “I-don’t-I don’t, HELPPP.” His voice cracked between sobs.

“Killian, faster!” I snapped. “Tobias, we’re almost there, a few minutes, buddy. Hold on,” I screamed.

“HUR-” He cut off. The sound of two beeps seemed louder in my ear. The call had ended.

Snapping my gaze to the camera, I could hear Killian speaking, but the words didn’t make sense as I switched between camera feeds. I wasn’t computer savvy like he was, but since putting those cameras up, I learned how to work them. The front showed nothing, even the back, but as it switched to the stairs, I began holding my breath. Turning the volume all the way up, I couldn’t focus on anything else but watching Salem being dragged down next to the staircase. A very large man covered in tattoos had hold of her hair by the fist. “Let me fucking go!” she screamed, her legs kicking as her hands gripped at his wrist.

“Killian, how long?” I barked, unable to take my eyes off the screen.

“Five minutes!” he yelled. I could tell he was listening as well. He heard her scream and could feel the tension as well as me.

The man dragged her further away from the stairs, stairs I hoped no one had climbed up. I had no idea where Tobias was, but I couldn’t click away from watching her fight for her life. I should’ve fucking been there. I didn’t care about Killian wanting to buy property here.

“Stupid bitch!” the man growled. Snapping back to the screen I watched as Salem somehow flipped her leg upward towards his head and kicked him directly in the eye. He dropped the hold he had on her hair making her fall flat on her back, which would cause anyone to get the wind knocked out of them. But Salem quickly sprung up, jumping on top of the man, her knee colliding with his face three times. She bashed his face over and over again. Another scream had her stop dead in her tracks, dropping his body, and she ran to the stairs.

Salem hurried towards the stairs, at the other high-pitched screams. FUCK. Switching the camera to the room Salem set up for his room, I watched as three large men kicked in his bedroom door.

“Killian, HURRY THE FUCK UP!” My voice cracked as I still couldn’t tear myself from the screen. I felt so helpless. My heart was being torn from my chest, and I couldn’t breathe.

“HELP!” Tobias screamed, tears rolling down his face. Two of the men approached him, both of them laughing as Tobias tried to hide in his closet. I would kill them all. I’m going to flay them alive and burn all their loved ones.

“Hey, fuckers!” Salem called from the doorway. She was standing there smirking at them. I had no idea where she got this confidence from, or if she was going to try and fight them off. Even if she could take me down, I was one man—she couldn’t take on all three. They were huge, just as big as I was.

“Get her, I’ll get the kid,” the one with blond hair ordered.

“Touch a single hair on his fucking body and I will make you wish you never lived.” Her voice was so calm it ran shivers down my body. I had never seen this side of her. The smile she was giving them was almost like she enjoyed the beginning of this taunt.

“You think you can fight us both little girl?” the second one asked in a mocking tone.

“Bring it, stupid fucks,” Salem challenged them.

“We’re around the corner,” Killian said, just as I heard Salem say, “Little one, close your eyes, please.” Her voice was so calm and caring.

“You need to call Dimitri.” I couldn’t believe I had completely forgotten about Dimitri until now.

“His phone is going straight to voicemail.”

“Fuck,” I cursed under my breath.

Turning back to the screen I tried to calm my beating heart from watching as Salem fought three men. She had the small dinosaur lamp, throwing it in the blond's face before grabbing hold of number two’s wrist and hoisting herself up. Wrapping her legs around his thick neck, she pulled her weight back causing both of them to rock backwards before he lost his footing, and she flung forward. He fell onto his face, and she rolled onto Tobias’s bed. Blondie was hot on her trail grabbing her by the throat. Out of nowhere she smiled bringing a knife she somehow got hold of and stabbed his face.

“AHH. YOU BITCH,” Blondie screamed just as she began driving the knife into his face over and over.

Dead.

I felt the car come to a complete stop. I don’t know how or where I went but my body had me running into the house, my Glock in my hand. Running up the stairs, my voice didn’t work as I reached his door. Salem reared back slamming the side table into number two’s face, knocking him out cold, just as the third guy rammed something in his hand into her side. Salem's eyes went wide. My hand moved before my mind did, and I shot the fucker in the head right between the eyes.

Looking up our eyes met, and her eyes switched from something dangerous to soft.

“What the actual fuck?” Killian said behind me. “Sal—”

“Killian, take Tobias to the car,” I snapped, keeping my gaze on Salem. She continued to hold the side table.

“Aunt Sey, I want to be with you,” Tobias began to beg.

“Little one it’s okay,” Salem whispered. I don’t know if he heard her. I barely did. From the corner of my eye I noticed him nodding his head. What the fuck? He listened to her instead of me. I knew they were growing close to each other, but this looked entirely different.
