“Alright, we’re going to be in the office, moy tsvetok.” Dimitri kissed her temple. Walking behind him we headed into the office.

Dimitri sat down, and Killian and I both took the chairs in front of the desk. I had nowhere to begin with everything I’d been doing. Thankfully, I didn’t have to think too hard before Dimitri laid it all out in front of me.

“Who's the girl?” Dimitri asked, folding his hands on top of the desk. “And does it have anything to do with why Luca has been blowing my phone up?”

I couldn’t lie to him. Not anymore. Especially not since she had killed Orlando, and now Remo was dead.

“Yeah, she does.”

“You better talk and talk fast,” Dimitri growled out. Losing his temper.

“I didn’t kill any of them, just Remo’s guards.” I don’t know why I started with that first. But I guess starting anywhere was better than not speaking at all.

“There’s a but,” Dimitri growled out. “Just spit everything out. We have other shit to speak about other than your bitch up there.”

“Watch your mouth,” I spit out before I even knew what I was doing. I never was the one who went against Dimitri, or his orders. But something inside me told me to protect Salem from him. And I’d be damned if I ignored that part of me. It was the only part of me that I felt now.

I could feel Killian stiffen next to me while Dimitri and I held each other's gaze.

“She's yours?” he asked.

“Yes.” I didn’t have to think about it. Yes, I was claiming the mystery girl upstairs asleep in my bed. Which reminded me the faster this meeting got over with the faster I could get upstairs and lay with her. Fuck, when did I become such a pussy?

“What’s the deal with her?” Killian finally asked.

Breaking away from Dimitri’s gaze I took a deep breath. “When we first got here after the meeting with Giulio and Leonzo I went to the back alley and found two shits messing with her.” I decided I had to tell them everything from the beginning. “I mean, they were, but she was holding her own. She broke one of their noses, and when she saw me, she…fuck, she took me down,” I muttered. I was a tough fucker, but her punch was hard, and I’d be crazy if she didn’t make me hard. They didn’t need to know all that much.

“The two fucks you were killing in the basement weeks ago?” Dimitri inquired.

“Yeah, those were the guys. I was stuck on trying to find who Ghost was, but my mind kept going back to her. I don’t know how to explain it. It was like the moment my eyes laid on her, I became… obsessed. The night I was going to get Chinese,” I said, motioning towards Killian. “I saw her. She was on the phone and then I followed her to her house.” I laughed to myself, remembering the number of times I drove past her house just to see if she was outside, or if her car was in the driveway. She didn’t even realize I was following her because she kept her head down. She wore baggy sweatpants. Even her damn sweatshirt was baggy on her. They were two sizes too big, but she looked cute. Her hair was done into a messy bun on top of her head, and her face was clear of all make-up. I could see a dusting of freckles across her nose.

“Zane,” Dimitri snapped bringing me back.

“Yeah, right. Anyway, I followed Orlando, actually. I had no luck finding Ghost. Which I still don’t, I really don’t believe this ghost person is true.” I shrugged my shoulders. “She was there. I did step in at one point. She held her own against me. She knocked me down and guys she’s fucking strong. But fuck, Dimitri, when she said that she would kill me if I didn’t move out of her way, something in her eyes, man.” I hated thinking back to just a few hours ago. I hated remembering the sadness swirling around, the anger, every emotion swirling around her face.

“So she killed Orlando.” He had no emotions about that Italian dying. “And Remo?”

“I almost did kill him. But no it was her, she chopped his head off.”

I guess neither man thought a tiny girl had the power to do so because Killian gasped like a fucking girl while Dimitri’s eyes bugged from his head. It was a split moment, but he still had been surprised.

“After she ran, I followed her and when I got to her house four of Remo’s men were beating the shit out of her.” I had no intention of telling them she was a virgin. Something primal in me snapped when I saw the blood on my cock. I had claimed her without even realizing, and she took me like a fucking champ. “Something in me snapped. I couldn’t watch as they continued breaking her bones and beating her. I killed three of the guards, I don’t know about the fourth.” I cringed inside.

“Excuse me?” Dimitri growled.

Yeah, rule number one about killing people, leave no survivors. Especially when we were technically supposed to be helping Luca, and I had been there helping kill his men.

“Remo grabbed her, and the guy slipped out. I hadn’t realized until it was too late.” I fucking hated that I hadn’t. I was the god damn enforcer for the fucking Bravta, and I messed up big time. Because of a girl. “I was about to kill Remo until I heard her, and she was carrying a goddamn cleaver, and she started whacking off his goddamn head,” I finished. The rest of them didn’t need to know that I stole her cherry, or that she spoke a different language as well. They didn’t need to know about the scars covering her whole body. They didn’t need to know that.

“Fuck, Zane,” Dimitri barked. “If I didn’t already have enough shit that I was fucking dealing with. Now this.” He clenched his hands together. Probably trying to stop himself from jumping across his desk and beating me to death.

“I can’t find anything about her, like at all. It’s as though she’s not a real person.” Snapping my head over at him, I noticed his computer was set up, obviously looking into her history as we spoke. But this was the worst thing he could do in front of Dimitri. Killian was the best of the best hackers. No one could do what this man could do. If you needed to find someone he was your man. Hack into any program, anything to do with technology, he was your man. So his not being able to find Salem was a problem.

“There's literally nothing?” Dimitri said, taking his focus somewhat off me for the first time since we stepped inside the office.

I wasn’t scared of Dimitri. But I also knew that he would protect Mila and Tobias no matter what, even if that meant taking out Salem. If she was a threat to them, he would not think twice about putting her into the ground. A place I didn’t want her.

“Seriously, like I cannot find a single thing about her, no matter where I look. The normal web there’s nothing. Fuck, even the god damn dark web. There’s nothing about her. She does not exist in this world.” He sounded spooked. It should concern me more with who she was, but I couldn’t find myself caring.
