“I’m not fucking blind, no one is, and you’re obvious as shit that you want her. Terrible fucking idea, but if you want to get murdered that’s on you.” He shrugs like he doesn’t care.
I bite my tongue and I know my lip curls up at what he doesn’t know. The temptation to tell him is so strong, but luckily for both of us the moderator gives us a ten second warning so we both shoot up, putting our helmets back on and get into position to shoot out of the box as soon as the door is opened.
“For someone who thinks I should mind my own business, maybe you should do the same,” is all I say before flying out onto the ice and joining the play. Managing to snag the puck, I’m unguarded as I skate to the other zone, fake out the goalie, shoot and it goes flying into the net.
I drop to my knee, pumping my fist in a celly as I circle around back to the bench. The team bumps my fist as I skate by because that’s what you do, but I can see the look of disdain on all their faces.
Collee is at the end and the first person I have to pass as I go to sit on the bench.
“You may be a decent player, but you need to fix your personality,” he says before jumping onto the ice and getting into place for another play to start.

“What do you think that was about?” Chandler asks quietly as Evie sleeps on her while we watch the game on an extremely low volume.
I shrug. “Colton probably made some dickhead comment.”
Chandler’s eyes swing over to me. “And how’s that going?”
My heart rate kicks up before I remember that she doesn’t know about anything happening.
“The same, annoying and I’m ignoring him.”After I let him fuck me into oblivion.
“You really don’t want to give it a try just once?” Audrey asks from the other side of me.
Just once. Those words are haunting me and have been for the last three weeks. I keep trying to convince both of us that’s all that was going to be, but he’s determined and I’m losing my resolve. I really have been busy preparing for the holidays, making sure everyone involved in Spencer’s professional life is appeased for now until after the first of the year so I can enjoy some peace.
Not like I have some special family plans or anything.
I don’t even know if Bryson is going to join us this year.
I’m sure Bailey won’t.
“No, I don’t,” I finally say, shaking my head.
Spencer is curled up in a chair across the room and I’m impressed her face doesn’t give anything away when I look over at her. She just gives me a small smile but doesn’t say anything.
Somehow, the guys end up winning by one when Brent scores a goal within the last ten seconds of the game, avoiding overtime and securing one of their rare wins this season. We celebrate quietly, but Evie wakes up anyway, though she’s such a good baby she hardly cries and just whines a little, which Chandler says is because she needs food.
We all take that as our cue to head out and go home.
Ellie greets me as soon as I get home and immediately goes to her food bowl, silently begging me to fill it. The sound of her quiet crunches are the only noise in the small apartment as I turn on the shower right before my phone rings.
I look down and groan. I don’t know who I expected, truly anyone calling me is a shock. But the fact that it’s Colton isn’t entirely surprising since he’s tried a couple of times while I’ve been ignoring him, and I always send it to voicemail.
Though, I am curious about what happened with Matt tonight and that’s the excuse I give myself as to why I answer this time.
"Hey Baby Collee,” his deep voice greets, and I’m instantly reminded of that same voice saying dirty things while deep inside me.
“What do you want?” I ask to avoid thinking of the thoughts that should fill me with shame, but just end up turning me on.
“To talk to you, know what you’re doing, making sure you’re thinking of me.”
“Whatever, about to take a shower, and nope.”
I hear his voice perk up a bit when he says, “A shower? Show me.”
“Absolutely fucking not.”
