“And you had me worrying for no reason?!” I yelled, and he smirked.
“You look so adorable when you’re angry,” was all he had to say to justify his reasoning.
I rolled my eyes. “Was there any real reason as to why you actually came here?”
He shrugged his shoulders. “To invite you to our honeymoon, of course.”
My glare intensified. “Stop calling it that.”
He held his hands up in surrender. “You just said, and I quote, ‘You’re perfect. After working all day, you still find it in you to visit me and invite me on a honeymoon—’”
I rolled her eyes as I cut him off. “I know what I said! Now go home and leave me alone! You’re starting to be annoying.”
He scoffed, “You’re pushing me away? Whatever happened to ‘Oh, Archer! How will I ever live without you? I don’t want to lose you.’”
I sighed in annoyance as he mocked me jokingly.
“I’m never going to live this down, am I?” I asked, and he winked.
“Not even in your dreams, Russel.”
I shooed him away as I gave him one last kiss and went inside.
Sliding against the door, I sighed as my eyes closed.
“Be lucky I let you talk to him without interrupting,” Kimiko butted in the silence, and I could only laugh as I went over to the couch and plopped down beside her as she continued scrolling through shows to watch.
Chapter thirty-nine
Brielle
Taking a seat at the dinner table, I watched with a warm smile as everyone got situated. Maia grinned, taking a sip of champagne.
“Thank you, Brielle… We haven’t had a chance to catch up with you all in a few weeks.”
I nodded, responding, “I’ve been trying to organize this forever. I wanted a chance for the children and us to continue bonding...” My voice trailed off as Killian placed his hand on my thigh.
The others continued to converse, and I glared at Killian as he took a sip of his wine.
“Can we enjoy one dinner without you trying to get frisky under the table?” I seethed.
He leaned over, placing a small kiss on my cheek that was slowly growing redder.
He pulled away, and as quick as he smiled, it was gone, his grip on my thigh tightening. I looked up at him in question, and he deadpanned.
“What’s wrong?” I asked softly, and he pulled me closer, trying not to show his anger.
“Why the hell is he here?” he asked in a menacing tone.
I looked over my shoulder to see Calvin checking in with Vivienne and Andrew behind. My heart sank as I looked back at Killian.
“I-I didn’t invite him. I just wanted it to be our family—” I started, but Calvin spoke, making me wince slightly.
“Killian, Brielle… others. Always a pleasure to see you all.”
It was silent as everyone directed their eyes to the voice. I watched as Eugene, Shin, and Blaine seemed oddly calm even with Calvin’s surprise visit, and that did not go unnoticed by Killian. He looked over at Blaine, who was doing his best to avoid eye contact.
“Blaine. Why the hell is he here?” he asked.
