“Are we feeling a bit claustrophobic?”
“No. Bored. Sick from junk food. Frustrated.”
“Hmm. I think it’s time for another game.”
He stopped his pacing for a moment and looked down at her. “What now?”
She smiled. “Truth or dare.”
“Which would be mostly truth, since there aren’t a lot of opportunities for dares in here.”
She patted the floor next to her. “Come sit and be a good sport.”
Sawyer sighed loudly, then sat down next to her. “I’ll need another beer.”
Jade handed him one. “Okay. Truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“Who was she? And where were you?”
“Jade. I told you I wasn’t going to tell you. And why do you care, anyway? That's also two questions.”
“I’m just curious. And you're sworn to tell the truth now. It’s a rule.”
“You don’t know her, so her name would mean nothing to you.”
“Tell me anyway.”
“Julia.”
“And…”
“In the locker room of the fire station. Actually, we started in the locker room and finished in the shower room.”
“Were these public spaces?”
“Public to the other firefighters. Not the general public.”
Jade looked at him. “Was she a firefighter?”
“Yes. And she was intense, and it didn’t last very long.”
“Intense how?”
“The only thing she really ever wanted to do was have sex.”
Jade laughed. “Aww. You poor thing.”
“Can we end this line of questioning now?”
“Yes. I choose truth, too.”
Sawyer thought for a moment. “If you could be anything in the world, jobwise or whatever, what would you be? Assuming money, skill, knowledge, or education weren’t a factor in getting there.”
“A ballerina.” She clapped her hand over her mouth as he turned to look at her. “I can’t believe I just told you that. How embarrassing.”
“How is that more embarrassing than my nymphomaniac firefighter?”
