“Keir…” I countered.

I was close enough to smell the mint on his hot breath. We were only a few inches apart. His eyes fell to my lips then rose back to mine. I continued to lean forward, so ready to feel his lips on mine, and—

DING!

We stopped leaning into each other and turned to see who had arrived.

“Where’s our girl?” Aiden’s voice rang out from the elevator.

“Oh shit…” Nicholas spoke into his fist at the same time, sucking in a breath.

The twins looked between us, grins already forming.

“Nothing happened,” Keir said defensively. He stood so abruptly, he nearly knocked me over. “I’ve got some work to do.” He walked around the couch and down the hall.

Tears were already falling down my cheeks by the time his door slammed shut.

Chapter 9

Nicholas

It had been a couple of days since we’d caught Keir nearly locking lips with Lilly, a welcomed sight, but things were still strained around the flat. They refused to speak about it or to each other.

Aiden and I made Lilly a big breakfast, hoping it would cheer her up. As we watched her move the eggs around her plate mindlessly with her fork, I knew our efforts had been futile. She stared vacantly at the cold food on her plate. Her shoulders were slumped, and her eyes were puffy from crying.

We hadn’t pushed her since that day. Each of her training sessions were completed in near total silence, and at night, my brother and I held her tight until she fell asleep. She was pulling away, growing distant from us, and it was Keir’s fault.

“Lilly, can I tell you something?” I asked her, sitting on the stool next to her at the kitchen bar. She didn’t turn her head, just glanced at me from the corners of her eyes. Good enough. “Keir’s an ass, but you’re better than this. You’re strong, smart, beautiful, and way out of his league anyway,” I said honestly. “Please don’t let his stupidity drag you down.”

“You don’t have to say all those things to make me feel better,” she muttered, finally turning to face me.

I hated the power Keir’s rejection had over her. We knew he didn’t want to hurt her, but he was doing it anyway by pushing her away. All four of us knew there was a connection between them that they couldn’t deny. Keir needed to pull his head out of his ass soon, or he would destroy Lilly with his ‘good’ intentions.

“Baby…” I lifted her chin between my thumb and finger as I leaned forward. “I only speak the truth. I’d never lie to our sweet, precious offering.” I slid my tongue across her lips, making the corners of her mouth turn upward. “There’s that smile I love.”

“Stop it,” she said, the smile still on her lips.

“Never,” Aiden chimed in, coming up behind her to kiss her neck.

She groaned and leaned to the side, giving him more access to her soft skin. With her eyes closed, her bottom lip pulled between her teeth, she looked fucking gorgeous. I wanted to devour her whole.

“Has our little whore missed this?” I asked while moving my hand from her chin to drag my finger down her throat to the spot between her breasts. She’d worn skimpy, gray pajamas that left little to the imagination, see-through fabric and everything.

“Oh… yes…” she murmured as she looked at me with dazed eyes, lost in the pleasure of Aiden’s mouth sucking on the thin skin of her neck.

“Do you want more?” my twin asked, his lips still pressed against her.

“Mmm-hmm…” she moaned sweetly.

I smirked, tilting my head to the side as I ogled at our girl, the woman we’d both fallen for instantly. Her eyes were fluttering closed, like she wanted to keep them open, but the sensation of Aiden’s kisses was too much, and she panted through parted lips.

I wanted to throw her over the counter and eat her until she was begging for mercy.

“Use your words, baby. Do you want more?” I asked as I returned my finger to under her chin. She shivered from my touch.

“Yes,” she whispered.

“Ah, ah, ah,” I taunted, gripping her chin tightly. Her eyes opened, pupils dilated as she tried her hardest to form the words I expected from her.
