“I won’t tell, princess,” he whispered in my ear as I came down off the high he’d provided. “Your secret is safe with me.” I shuddered as he let go of my hair, pulling his fingers out of me at the same time.
He zipped my wetsuit up with his clean hand then brought the hand covered with me to his mouth. I watched as he licked each finger clean while he stared me down, like that was just the fucking appetizer and he was starving for the main course.
When he finished, I looked back at the twins, both still watching me with their older brother, eager for their turn.
“I hope you’re relaxed now, princess.” He moved my legs so they were once again within his and massaged my thighs. I nearly moaned from that alone. “Does that feel good?” I nodded, and he kept going with a satisfied smile.
The car came to a halt, and a knock sounded against the window, making me jump. Keir rolled the window down to reveal Ida, who looked utterly exhausted.
“She will only have twenty minutes,” she said as she placed something in his hand. “She can’t swallow it until she’s ready. It was the best he could do on such short notice.”
“We’ll make it work,” Keir told her, giving her a nod of thanks before rolling the window back up.
“I knew she’d come through,” Nicholas said with relief, Aiden agreeing with him.
Keir picked me up and put me in the seat beside him. He opened his hand to show me what she’d given him. It was a tiny green pill, no bigger than my pinky nail.
“What’s it for?”
“It will let you breathe underwater,” Keir explained. “But only for twenty minutes, so you can’t take it until you are absolutely ready to go, okay?” I nodded. “We are going to hide it here,” he said as he tucked the pill into a tiny pocket above my heart.
I looked them all in the eye, the mood having switched from sensual to serious, and smiled. “I got this.”
“You do,” Aiden responded at the same time as Nicholas said, “Of course.”
Keir squeezed my hands. “We will be watching. I highly doubt he will let us go out onto the lake with you, but we will be timing it. I don’t care who I have to go through. If you’re down there for too long, I’m coming for you.”
I wrapped my arms around him, holding him tightly, forcing my tears back, not wanting to let him go. When I finally pulledaway, the twins had made their way outside the limo. Nicholas helped me out of the car with a hug and kiss. Aiden did the same.
“Let’s get this over with,” I gritted out, taking a big breath to hype myself up. I stood straight, trying to appear taller than I really was, summoning all the confidence my body could offer.
When I took my first step toward the crowd, the lake beyond them, I knew my men were behind me, and I knew that no matter what, things were going to work out.
They had to.
Chapter 48
Lillian
The crowd was larger this time. There were too many of them to have just been the councilmen and their significant others. Satan must’ve invited more people. He was an evil, conniving bastard, trying to intimidate me with an audience. Unfortunately for him, they were going to enjoy a public showing of Satan’s humiliation after I kicked his stupid trial in the ass.
He was on a stage like the one from the first trial, but this time, he was sitting on a chair. It looked like a smaller version of his throne—-I’d seen pictures of it, but it was no less ornate than the real deal. It was gold-plated and covered with all sorts of shiny jewels. There were two large rubies stacked on each other, the bottom one smaller than the top one, on each side of the back of the throne.
He sat with one leg over the other, both arms on the arms of the chair, but one hand in the air. He was trying to look intimidating and annoyed, and I applauded him on the effort, but I wasn’t that scared little human anymore. I was the woman who was going to save Hell from him, even if it took me a thousand years.
I took one look at his fiendish glare and gave him a devilish smile of my own, along with a nod of acknowledgment. His face twitched more than once as he worked to keep his composure. I was under his skin. Good.
“Search her for anything she might cheat with,” I heard Satan tell one of his guards as we got close.
“Don’t fucking touch her,” Keir said to the guard as he moved ahead to stand in front of me.
Nicolas and Aiden came to either side of him, ready to defend me along with him.
I reached up and put my hand on Keir’s shoulder, making him turn to look at me. “Let’s get this over with,” I reminded him.
He contemplated for a second, no doubt running through the possibilities of what could happen if the dagger, the pill, maybe even both, were found in the search. I was thinking about the same thing, but at this point, it was hopeless to fight their father. I just wanted to be on the other side of this, going home with my men and being one step closer to becoming a demon.
“Lillian…” he started to speak, but I shook my head.
