“I already know I love you,” I laughed softly. “But you’re ruining all my plans, Easton. Will you be patient while I learn what it means to be in love?”
“That’s something we'll be learning together.” He leaned closer and skimmed his lips against mine. “Let’s both promise to show each other some grace.”
“Deal.” I pressed my lips hard against his and wrapped my arms around his neck, practically pushing myself into his lap. There were two more questions, but the papers fell to the floor as Easton chose to run his hands through my hair and around the back of my neck.
“Com’ere,” he whispered, leaning back and guiding me over the top of his body. “Tell me what you need.”
“You. Always you.”
Chapter Forty-Four
EASTON
Since the fire, there hadn’t been anything I’ve wanted more than to wrap Jesse in my arms and assure her she was safe. I wanted to take her away from the devastation and fear that crossed over her features when she thought I wasn’t looking. I wanted to push inside of her until the only thing she could think of was what it meant to be connected to me.
But I also wanted to be sure that she was ready. Not because of the fire, but because of the last time we had made love. We were together, thinking it was a goodbye, and I never wanted to do that again. The next time we made love, I wanted to be sure she was ready for forever with me.
“Tell me what you need.”
“You. Always you.”
That’s what I needed to hear, and based on the way she was pushing her body into mine, I knew she was anxious for me to read those last two questions another time. My girl needed me to finally take the stress of the last few days away, and remind herthat even though she didn’t need one, I could occasionally be her hero.
“Always me,” I nodded, guiding her over the top of my body.
As I laid back on the couch, she stretched out with me, kissing my chest, neck, and chin. My fingers skimmed up and down her side, moving the satiny fabric from her pajamas over her skin and creating goosebumps.
Then her mouth found mine, and she pulled herself up into a straddle over my hips. Her hands held tight onto my chest while she began to move her pelvis.
I wanted to help her, push her down harder and let her feel that I was already completely hard for her. But I also loved letting her set the pace. Watching her on top of me, showing me how much she needed me, was as close to heaven as I’d ever been. It was more than sex, it was trust.
“That’s my girl,” I moaned, as her lips went down my neck again. “Take what you need.”
“I just want to consume you the way you do me.”
“Trust me. You already have. I’m hanging on by a thread here.”
Her head lifted up and her hair created a curtain around us. I pushed it back so I could see her eyes and I noticed there were tears threatening to spillover.
Sitting up quickly, I held her cheeks and looked into both of her eyes more intently. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” she laughed. “But sometimes you feel a little too good to be true. What if, after you left my house the night we met, I went to bed, and everything after that has been a dream? Some fantasy my subconscious conjured up after connecting with you that night?”
“Then your house wouldn’t have been burnt to the ground,” I reasoned, like there would be an upside to waking up from her dream.
“As long as Max is safe, I’d rather have you.”
With my hands on her backside, keeping her steady as we talked, I pinched her ass with both hands.
“Ouch,” she laughed.
“Good news,” I whispered, rubbing the spots I had just pinched. “You’re awake, and I’m all yours.”
Her laugh was infectious, but loud enough that we both started shushing each other so we didn’t wake up Max. Then once we were sure he wasn’t getting up, I threw my legs off the couch and leaned against the back.
“Keep touching me,” I moved her hands across my chest. “Make love to me, Jess. Let’s give it all we’ve got.”
Her smile fell, but her eyes were fire, taking my request to heart. She reached down between us and pushed the waistband of my sweats down just enough to free my cock. Her hand wrapped around me, stroking my sensitive tip as she watched my eyes flash with the same need hers had.
