“I’m not sure how much longer I can stay away from her.”
“Honestly, my dear. I am not sure she has much resistance in her left either. Why she is even fighting it, I have no idea.”
Now I was smiling, bright and almost joyfully bouncing on my heels. “She talks about me?”
“Constantly,” Galena said without even looking my way, almost as if it annoyed her.
“What should I do?”
“I am filling in for her while she is down. She is not to even attempt putting weight on her leg for another week, and after that, who knows. With that being said, at some point, she will head back down and return to Brisé.”
“So? I should wait on her?”
“Precisely. You must understand, Mr. Black. She thought you were part of all of this. Before that man hit her, he told her you were a part of it all. She saw you laughing outside with the first man that had broken into her business and hurt her.”
“But I didn't…”
“I know that. She knows that now. But she wants to have a clear head and a forgiving heart when she sees you. Even if you were not involved, your brother was, and she has to be able to get past that.”
Grunting, I placed my hands on my hips and tried reconciling what Galena had just said. It wasn't too hard, though. Giselle was hurt, physically and mentally. We were barely even starting things up together. Who was I to be needier than she was?
“Ok. But expect to see me everyday, Galena.”
“I would expect nothing less, Mr. Black. In fact, I have an excellent idea.”
