I whispered to Dylan. “I didn’t know daddy dearest would be here?”
“And why the hell not?” Dylan answered back in a low tone. “He runs the company, and it’s good for business.”
We wandered closer towards Daxon, and my eyes fell on his date. She came over to him with two glasses of sparkling champagne and a gorgeous young smile. But his eyes shimmered at me just like the chandelier light, and it made me sizzle.
His gorgeous date hung off his arm, but I knew it was all for show. A show for me or for everyone, but it didn’t matter. I knew I was the one he longed for because he had made it known.
He played a good game, but his cock had won the trophy. It triumphed over all else, and I knew how much he craved me. It was the same need I held deep within me. The same hunger we both starved for and it was for each other. Daxon wanted fantastic sex, but I wanted more. He couldn’t give me that, but it didn’t mean I couldn’t tease him.
Only for one night.
“Come on, let’s dance.” I encouraged Dylan with a smile and took his hand.
He raised his eyebrows with surprise and tilted his head to his side. He went in the direction of the dance floor and we grew closer. Our closeness made my body cringe, but it was all for show. A show for the public eye and my show for his father.
Our bodies swayed to the rhythm of the music, and he whispered in my ear. “It’s about time you want to leave a lasting impression, darling. What’s come over you?”
I tilted my head to the side with a devilish smirk. “Let’s just say your dad got under my skin.”
Dylan laughed it off and thought nothing of it. He viewed it as my annoyance for his rude father, but it was now the opposite. An attraction that burned bright and never went out.
We spun across the floor as we moved to a slower beat and all eyes were on us. We made the impression Dylan wanted and my plan had worked. Daxon’s eyes caught Dylan’s hand as he held the small of my back and brought me closer. Jealous flames sparked to life within his heated gaze and flicked his frustration with me.
He joined us on the dance floor with his date. His hands were on her and travelled lower to her ass. My head spun with hot envy and I wanted it to be me. His eyes caught mine across the dance floor and gleamed with challenge. I accepted his dare, and he tried to show us up. But I wouldn’t have it.
“Dip me, darling.” I whispered in Dylan’s ear as my hands squeezed his broad shoulders and I held on tight.
He did as instructed and my head flung backwards. The tip of my ponytail touched the floor, and he swung me to the right side. My eyes caught Daxon’s surprised look and his wicked smirk took over. He knew the game was on.
In one swift motion, Dylan brought me back up flush to his chest, and we breathed heavily. My hips swayed to the beat as it picked up rhythm and the band knew to play faster. I was tightly against his body and his hand took mine. He twirled me outwards and spun me back into his embrace. I smiled at our dance of excellence and peered over Dylan’s shoulder.
His dad moved his date closer towards us and ran his hands down the sides of her body. An intoxicating move that made me shiver and wish his hands were on me. He stopped at her hips and grabbed her hand. Her hair flicked in the air as he spun her in circles and her dress blew with it. He paused as his hands grabbed her hips once more and he threw her with ease into the air.
The coward gasped at his display as he balanced her with strength and held her steady high above his head. She was stiff and the chandelier light beamed behind her. He tossed her body upwards, and she spun in the air. The sight was a spectacular show no one expected as he caught her in his arms and the crowd broke out in a cheer.
He carried her with grace and let her body slide down his own until her heels met with the floor. His nostrils extended with each big breath he took and he held her close. But his eyes locked on my surprised face and he knew he had won this round.
Dylan led the way and brought us closer to the couple. I dreaded every second as his eyes never left mine and I took in his attire. He was gorgeous in a silver tux with black dress shoes and it matched his hair perfectly. His wicked smirk made me wet, and I knew he looked this good just for me.
“Could I take your partner for a spin?” Dylan asked as he looked at Daxon’s date and admired her. “That dance was quite impressive.”
Daxon’s date threw her head back and giggled with flattery. “Absolutely.”
Daxon made no fuss and handed her to Dylan. He let go of me as we exchanged partners and Daxon wrapped one arm around me. His other hand intertwined with mine and he pulled me flush up against him.
“Alone at long last, princess.” He beamed with victory.
His eyes shone at me like he had won his prize. A bright, sparkling trophy all dressed in red. A dance with a monster wrapped up in darkness. But the darkness was me.
The pad of his thumb caressed the back of my hand, and we moved together in unison. My being no longer cringed with regret, but scorched with heat. A wicked flame that never burnt out as we fell into step with one another and created a beat of our own.
The world stood still. Time froze as we weaved through it and broke all boundaries. Our forbidden dance grew heavier as our breath mingled and our faces were inches apart. But his eyes captivated me and drew me in.
Their different hues of brown blazed with passion as he looked back at me and burned a hole straight into my heart. It burst wide open and welcomed him inside. But I knew he wouldn’t enter even though I longed for it.
His need was only sexual, and that was all he had to give. I had to accept it, but it still sliced like a knife. But my emotions needed to remain in check.
He was my future father-in-law, after all. We too had an image to uphold, and too many eyes were on us. And I needed to snap out of it.
