FOURTEEN
Someone Else
The elevator dingedfor my floor and I stepped off with a whirlwind of emotions. I was not sure how long I was stuck in an elevator with Dylan’s father, but it felt like an eternity. An additional barrier unraveled for billionaire Daxon Stark and it was unexpected. It was an experience I never saw coming, but I was glad it did.
It helped me understand him and the logic to his madness. The sad place he kept tucked away and hid it with darkness. A selfish, ruthless and driven man. He masked it all behind the company he built. His fortress, his business was everything. If it came tumbling down, so would the walls he built around his heart.
I took my keycard out and pressed it up against the scanner. The door quietly opened to the hotel room, and I strolled inside. The air in the room was hot, and a smell hit my nose. It caused it to wrinkle and I could recognize it.
The smell of hot sweaty sex.
I brushed the thought off and continued inside. They cut the living area off from the bedroom and Dylan was there. He must’ve gone back to bed while I got some fresh air. My heels dragged along the carpet and I made my way to the bedroom, but the door was wide open. The white bed sheets made movement, but I couldn’t see anyone covered underneath.
“Dylan darling, I have some news...” I started, but my words fell short when the bed sheets flew back to reveal Dylan’s shocked face. And he wasn’t alone. “And apparently, so do you?”
I stared with disbelief at my husband to be with another man in our king-sized bed. A bed we hadn’t even shared, but he was sharing it with another man. A very naked man.
“Oh, my god...” I whispered in shock with my hands out in front of me and angry tears hit my eyes.
Dylan’s panicked face stared back at me, and he scrambled out of bed with a bed sheet pulled around his waist. I backed up and hit the dresser behind me. It startled me back to reality and this lonely nightmare. My fiancé was having an affair with another man.
“I-I thought you were getting some fresh air?” He breathed as he came closer towards me, but I backed up.
My back hit the doorframe next and tears fell down my cheeks. I tucked the keycard back in between my breasts and tucked my hair behind my ears. I was so upset my entire head felt like it was going to explode. The embarrassment coursed through me and it hardened me deep inside. He has been playing me for a fool this entire time. He never loved me and never could.
“I was going to until I heard the news from your father that you got the Brava deal and I was going to surprise you. But it appears I was the one in for the surprise.” I glared at him through blurry eyes and looked at his lover.
The other man was extremely fit, just like Dylan. They tousled his hair from their lovemaking and a look of terror on his face. His green eyes were wide with shock as he stared straight at me. But I realized he feared me.
I looked back at Dylan, the man I was supposed to love and he was supposed to love me. He gave me a ring that was supposed to symbolize our love, but it was all a lie. And all I saw was red.
“I need to get out of here.” I whispered and turned my back to him.
I headed straight for the door and his footsteps followed behind me. He repeatedly called my name, but I couldn’t look back. He had betrayed me in the worst way. The thing that hurt the most was, I didn’t even realize he was into men. I never saw that my husband to be was gay.
“Please, Celeste, please don’t tell my father!” He cried out, and this voice echoed down the hallway.
I stopped dead in my tracks at the mention of Daxon. His face entered my mind and caused me to turn around to face his son one last time. Dylan stood in the hallway with his handsome face in so much distress. His eyes pleaded with me to keep a secret that I didn’t want to. A truth that had turned my world upside down in the worst way imaginable and he wanted me to keep his secret.
“No one can find out I’m gay. My dad can never know. It could ruin everything. The future of the company is in your hands, Celeste.” Dylan breathed heavily as he ran his hand down his face and turned around to go back inside.
The door clicked closed as it echoed down the hallway and scattered my heart. I was alone. Heartbroken, confused, angry, and bitter. Everything I thought I knew was over, and he expected me to keep it all to myself.
