FIFTEEN
Presidential Suite
“Welcome to my suite, princess.” Daxon breathed as he stood me up and closed the door behind me.
It didn’t take long to get to Daxon’s suite. It seemed to go by in the blink of an eye, or maybe it was the booze. But he carried me all the way there.
His warm body surrounded me, and I melted into him. His scent captivated me and made me want to stay in his arms. But his voice sang a sweet soothing tune and made me want to listen to him forever.
I almost forgot that he was my enemy. A man who I thought hated me and wanted me gone. But I saw a different side to Daxon within the last twenty-four hours and it made me almost forget the bad side of Daxon Stark.
I had to remember an egotistical man was still inside. He could creep out at any moment and get me with his twisted games. I wasn’t sure if this was a good idea after all.
“Maybe I should just go...” I sighed with uneasiness and got ready to blot. “This isn’t a good idea and...”
But Daxon grabbed my wrist.
“And where would you go?” He asked with concern.
I certainly didn’t want to go back to my room. Not after I found my fiancé with his lover. The memories were still raw and hurt, but Daxon didn’t need to know.
“I could just get my room and...” I tried to speak, but he stopped me.
“Nonsense. You will stay with me and that’s final, young lady.” Daxon said sternly, and the concern disappeared, replaced by his greed.
“You aren’t the boss of me, daddy.” I muttered with argument at his strict behavior and pointed my nose up in the air.
Suddenly, he jerked me close without warning and my breasts collided against his chest. My breath hitched and my eyes locked on his. I couldn’t look away, no matter how hard I tried.
“Why do you always have to be so...” Daxon hissed as his eyes searched my face and he ran his finger along my chin. “Defiant.”
“I guess you bring out the worst in me, daddy dearest.” I snapped back, pulled my wrist out of his grasp and backed away. “I’m out of here.”
I turned around to leave, but he raised his voice. “Wait!”
The instruction made me halt, and I knew I should continue walking, but I couldn’t. I had to hear him out. Something in his voice begged me to over top of the usual dominance that flowed naturally from him.
He cleared his throat and softly said. “There’s more than enough room here. You’d have a full bedroom to yourself.”
The anger of his stern bark turned into a softness with his sweeter tone. It calmed me and made me smile to myself as I turned around to look at him. His hair disheveled, like he had just run his hand through it and he tried hard to put on a nice front. I had never seen him like this before, and it made me curious. Curious enough to stay.
“Okay, but I get dibs on which bed.” I teased as I pushed past him, but heard a huff escape him.
Good, I still got on his nerves.
I smiled brightly as I wandered farther into the presidential suite. Lavish furnishings were in the living room area with a nice plush carpet for your bare feet. Grey and blue tones decorated the room. Big lights were set up in different places and an enormous flat screen television sat in the center of the room. But it was the vast windows that showed off the true view.
The ocean scenery laid out behind them with the moonlight gently grazing the water. It created a nighttime glow on the calm blue waters. The view was beautiful with palm trees and there wasn’t a soul in sight. There was no one here but us. Our own private beach and it made my skin tingle.
No one would know I was here with my future father-in-law to be. It would be our little secret. And that scared the shit out of me.
