Maro:
I don’t know what to make of those.
Sordello:
Who were they? Did you recognize all of them?
Maro:
The ones I saw, yeah. There were so many. I only caught glimpses.
Sordello:
All residents of Hollows Bend, though, right?
Maro:
[Nods, then remembers to speak] Yeah. Damn near everybody.
Analysis Note: Sordello retrieved a photograph from her briefcase. I want to take this opportunity to state for the record that Sordello’s supervisor should have shut things down at this point. She had no business showing that photograph to the deputy; it could have compromised everything. Her supervisor didn’t stop her, though. So, for the formal record, I opposed this. If I had been in a position to stop her, I would have. I can’t be held accountable. The fault is on Beatrice Sordello and her supervisor. You want to write me up for saying that, go ahead, but you certainly can’t write me up for not ending something I had zero control over.
Sordello:
[Presses photograph to the glass] Is this what you saw?
Maro:
[Studies image. Appears confused. Looks back at Sordello] No. Those names … are different.
