“Are you hungry?” He asks.

“Yeah, I will cook us something.” I say.

“No, I will cook. You rest.” He states.

“But you can’t cook.” I point out.

“Leave it to me.” He says kissing my head before climbing off of the bed and going into the kitchen.

I lay back and switch on the TV. I can hear a lot of banging and crashing around.

“Are you okay in there?” I ask.

“Absolutely fine, just rest.” He yells back.

I bite my lip to stop myself from laughing.

“Ow! Son of a bitch!” He yells.

I giggle as more banging and crashing comes from the kitchen, followed shortly by the smoke alarm.

I burst out laughing, covering my face with the pillow so that he can’t hear me.

“Shut up you mother fucking shit!” He yells.

Eventually it stops. I wipe my tears.

He walks in a moment later with some kind of sauce spilt down his top and a burnt towel thrown over his shoulder. He looks like he’s just come out of a war zone.

He smiles, proudly placing down the tray.

“Ta-da! A toasted cheese sandwich.” He smiles.

I burst out laughing.

“All that banging, crashing, and the smoke alarm was for a cheese toastie?” I laugh, wiping my tears.

He smiles and shrugs.

“So what’s the sauce down your shirt?” I point.

He looks down at his shirt.

“Oh, a jar of sauce fell out of the cupboard and it smashed. It must have splattered on my shirt.” He shrugs.

“Thank you for cooking for me.” I lean over and kiss him.

I take a bite of the toasted cheese sandwich and moan.

“Gaige, this is delicious! What did you put in it?” I ask.

“Ahh, now that would be telling. It’s a secret recipe.” He wiggles his eyebrows.

I giggle and lean in and kiss him.

We eat some of the leftover cakes from the bakery and in less than two hours I’m asleep again. I feel Gaige pull me into his arms and place his hand over my stomach again.
