I grab Gaige’s chin and force him to focus on me.

“Don’t get into a fight over nothing. He means nothing to me. What do I have to do to change your angry face into a happy one?” I ask smiling.

Gaige grunts.

I lean in and kiss him softly and whisper ‘I love you’ across his lips.

He grabs the back of my head and deepens the kiss and groans.

“Well I was going to warn you that the food is hot but I can see you guys don’t mind it being a little hot.” Eloise says giggling.

She places down our food and leaves.

We stop kissing and I smile up at Gaige.

“You still angry?” I ask.

“If I say no does that me you’ll stop kissing me like that?” He asks.

“No, but I'm going to stop kissing you now because your woman is hungry.” I smile and peck him on his lips.

“Can’t have my woman being hungry.” He smirks.

We eat our food and decide to share a pie and ice cream after.

“Here, try this pie. It’s delicious.” I say, holding out my spoon with pie and ice cream on it.

He opens his mouth and I feed him. He hums in approval.

“That is good, but I happen to know of something that tastes much better.” He says low.

I lean in and kiss him.

“Want to go home? You can eat as much as you like.” I tease.

“Move your ass now, your man is hungry.” He orders.

I jump up giggling as he chases me out the bar.

Chapter Twenty-one

Gaige has promised to help Bob out with a couple of contracts and he has deliveries to catch up on. We only manage passing visits through the day and by the time Gaige comes back to mine at night I’m out cold, too tired to stay awake.

The next day the shop is just as busy. What doesn’t help is I’m not feeling great either. I’d rather be in bed sleeping but Amy has called in sick so I’m on my own until Josie can get here after she finishes school. Thankfully everyone is being patient and understanding.

“Next please?”

“Hello Esme, could I have a fresh loaf and two of your red velvet cupcakes please?” Nellie asks.

“Sure thing.” I answer.

I reach for the loaf of bread and wobble slightly.

“You okay Esme?” She asks.

I stand still for a minute to stop myself from feeling dizzy.

“Yeah, I think it’s just low sugar levels. Being on my own I haven’t had chance for a break yet.” I say as I bag her bread.
