God this night needs to hurry up and be over.
Eloise comes back to take our orders. Amy orders a salad and I order a steak and fries.
“You sure you don’t want the salad ?” Wyatt asks.
I turn to him, shocked that he would say such a thing.
“I'm happy with my steak and fries thank you.” I smile sweetly.
Gaige snorts into his beer. My gaze shoots to him.
“What?” I snap,
“Just that if I’d asked you that you would’ve told me to piss off.” He states.
“That’s because Wyatt is nice and kind to me and you can be a twat sometimes.” I bite back.
“Okay. I’m changing the subject, have any of you watched that new reality show ‘It’s me or the Car’?” Amy asks.
“No Amy, I haven’t. Is it any good? I ask.
“Oh it is! The guys have to choose either the car of their dreams or their wife.” She giggles.
“It’s funny, I've seen it.” Wyatt smiles fondly at Amy.
I roll my eyes and catch Gaige staring at me. I poke my tongue out like a pissed off toddler. His lips twitch, clearly fighting a smile.
“So tell me, how do you make your cake so moist? Gaige couldn’t stop talking about it.” Amy says, cutting me from my thoughts.
“Sorry what?” I ask.
“Your sponge; Gaige said it was very moist.” She states.
“The best I've ever tasted, I could eat it all day and night.” Gaige states, his eyes searing through me. I choke on my wine.
Wyatt pats my back.
“You alright?” He asks. “You’ve gone a bit flustered.”
“I'm fine thank you. It just went down the wrong way.” I rasp.
“Umm, well Amy, it’s just about getting the ingredients just right and not over baking. Over baking can dry a cake right out.” I say.
“Maybe you should give baking classes when you open. I know I’d sign up for that!” She says smiling.
“It’s certainly something to think about.” I smile.
Eloise brings our food and we tuck in.
“Wow, this steak is delicious.” I mumble with a mouthful of food.
“Slow down Esme or you’ll choke on your meat.” Wyatt states.
“Don’t worry Wyatt, I've seen her with more meat in her mouth than that before.” Gaige points out.
I immediately start choking on my steak.
Wyatt pats my back again. He probably thinks I’m some kind of toddler that doesn’t know how to eat and drink properly.
