“Yeah Gaige, it’s not your mum’s fault. They say when a woman reaches a certain age they can get easily confused. I suppose you have to be careful and watch out for signs of Alzheimer’s at your age.” I smile sweetly back.
Take that you bitched face hag!
Gaige looks to his mum, questioning if she has early onset of Alzheimer’s. I wish Sally was here she would be so proud of me right now.
“I’m fine. Had a full health check at the doctors just last month.” Fiona smiles.
“Well, I can’t sit around and eat…um…this. I have to get to the bakery.” I stand to go get ready.
“Actually Esme, I have to do a quick job for Bob. I thought maybe you could take mom with you to the bakery. I’m sure she would love that.” Gaige insists.
“Great.” I fake enthusiasm.
I go upstairs to get ready, already dreading the day ahead. Maybe I can dump her with Amy and go to the Sunken Ship and eat poutine.
Once dressed I look in the mirror and smile. I have a black fitted bodycon long sleeved dress on. It’s stretchy and comfy and it hugs my bump which I love. I know some women like to hide it and at first I did too. Let’s face it, all women feel it when it’s at the ‘has she put on weight or is she pregnant’ stage.
I walk downstairs and smile when Gaige does a sweep of my body, his eyes hungry. He reaches for me, grabbing a fistful of my hair, and takes my mouth.
“You look fucking stunning.” He whispers as he kisses my neck.
“Mmm, we can be a few minutes late to the bakery.” I moan.
Gaige smiles against my neck and bites playfully.
“I'm ready!” Fiona sings, walking down the stairs.
Just like that the moment is dead.
“Cock blocked.” I mutter.
Gaige laughs.
“Later beautiful.” He whispers in my ear.
“We better or you will have a moody pregnant women on your hands.” I threaten.
On the car ride over Ice Cubes ‘You can do it’ comes on. I see Fiona scrunch up her nose so of course I turn it up.
I sing along and dance in my seat and flirt with Gaige. He laughs and shakes his head.
We pull up at the bakery and Gaige turns the music down.
“Hallelujah! I can hear again.” Fiona sighs from the back seat.
I lean forward and kiss Gaige.
“Later beautiful.” He smiles.
Walking into the bakery I smell the sweet smell of freshly baked cakes and bread.
“Hey Amy.” I yell.
“I’m out the back!” She replies.
I walk to the kitchenwith Fiona following behind me.
Amy is traying up cakes for the day. I walkover and help her.
