Just like before, Ronnie’s lips on mine were soft. Already feeling familiar. It was exactly how I wanted to be kissed. His tongue moved against mine and it pulled a needy moan from me. With his hands in my hair, Ronnie kissed the breath from my lungs. He alternated the pressure of his lips on mine and swept his tongue against mine with the expertise and authority of a man who knew exactly how to kiss. His hand went to my jaw with his thumb gently stroking my skin. My entire body sagged against him, and I felt my underwear get wet. At that realisation, I almost pulled away because the last person to do that to me was Jimmy, it had only been him for such a long time.
I made the right choice though. I continued to lose myself in Ronnie’s kiss. I felt like it had always been him, that my kisses had only ever been forhim. Our breaths became rapid and the kiss harder until Ronnie abruptly broke away.
“Shit, Amber. I think we need to stop, again.” He grabbed the cushion and thrust it to his lap.
My face felt hot at the awareness of what he was hiding. “Sorry.”
He shook his head. “Don’t be sorry, but I’m seconds away from ripping your clothes off.”
“Oh, r-right.” I was seconds away from begging him to rip my clothes off.
“And that is far too soon.” He closed his eyes and muttered something under his breath. “I should go.”
“Are you sure?” I asked, feeling a huge amount of disappointment.
“Not really, but I’m trying to be a better man here, Amber.” He ran a finger down my cheek and the reverence in his eyes filled my stomach with a thousand butterflies. “What are you doing tomorrow?”
“I have no plans. Why?”
“We don’t have a gig tomorrow, so how about we go and see some of the sights?” So that Elliot could fly home for Belle’s check-up, they’d rearranged the second gig for the night after the original date, giving everyone a full day and night off.
“Together? In public?”
He grinned. “I have some amazing disguises.”
“Do you?” I said with a giggle. “Like what?”
“A baseball cap and sunglasses. It’s awesome.” He leaned forward and gave me a hard kiss against my lips. “I’ll text you the arrangements in the morning. Is that okay?”
“That would be great.” A thought struck me. “What about Jimmy?”
“I’m not inviting him.”
I rolled my eyes. “You know what I mean.”
“I do.” He laughed and gave me another quick kiss. “He won’t find out, don’t worry. I’ll get Destiny to call a soundcheck for Blind Devil and blame his vocals.”
By the look in his eyes, he was being serious, and I loved the idea.
“It’s a date,” I replied.
Ronnie breathed out slowly and smiled softly. “It certainly is and it’s going to be the best one ever.”
I knew he was right and couldn’t wait for him to prove it.
CHAPTER31
RONNIE
My nerves were jangling as we took the service lift down to the back of the hotel. Amber looked gorgeous in a cute little sundress, with her hair up and tendrils hanging down around her pretty face. Her skin was looking more tanned than a few weeks ago after spending time in my garden, her cheeks were fuller and her eyes brighter. She’d always looked beautiful to me, but now she was glowing. Peaceful, too.
I wanted it to be the best date that she’d ever had. Her being married to Jimmy, I didn’t think that I had much of a bar to reach, but I had my pride. Besides which, she deserved something awesome. Which was why I had gone all out. I didn’t want to appear flashy and spend a mega amount of money, so had tried to go for romantic and sweet rather than showy.
“Ooh that breeze is nice,” Amber said on a sigh as we pushed through the door into an alley behind the hotel.
“Do you need to go back and get a jacket or something?”
“No, I’m fine. It’s lovely.”
