Toni stands in front of Bohdi. “Whoa, whoa. I think you have had one too many of those.” Toni taps Boh’s beer. I don’t tell Boh he’s wrong, I just let my gaze flick between his, trying to tell him I’m sorry. He shakes his head, laughing to himself before stalking off. Toni turns around, eyes wide.
“That was close, but I think he definitely knows.” Boh paces out to the backyard.
“Yeah, so do I.” I breathe out.
Chapter forty-one
Rylee
TonandIsitat the island, me sulking and brewing while Toni stares down at her phone. I lost sight of Cash and Miley, but now I’m drowning myself in wine. As I got up to fill up my fourth glass in half an hour, Toni takes the bottle out of my hand.
“Slow down.” She frowns. “I’m all for having a good time and getting drunk, but you’re going to be blackout drunk soon, and it’s too early for that.” I huff, and then Cash walks in with Miley trailing him. My hands clench as Cash’s eyes find me straight away. He pulls a sad frown.
“Cash, are you going to get me a drink.” Her horrible annoying voice echoes through the kitchen.
“Cash,” she says louder. Cash breaks away from our stare.
“Ahh, yeah. What do you want?” He glances down at Miley. She smiles up at him and runs her hand up and down his arm.
“Whatever you want to give me.” She tries to add a seductive tone to it, and I about lose myself. I stand up, knocking the chair back, and storm out of the kitchen.
“Rylee,” Toni shouts after me. I put my hand up.
“I’m going to get some air.” I storm outside to the front yard and jump up on the front wall. The air whips against my face, and I’m hoping it simmers my anger. I know I wasn’t ready to tell everyone, but that doesn’t mean he can still flirt with other women right in front of my fucking face. What is that about?
“Fucking prick,” I mumble to myself, feeling a lot more drunk than I did before coming out here. I jump down, losing my balance as I giggle while trying to stand back up and pull my dress down.
“Ma’am.” I glance up in front of me but no one’s there. Am I hearing things? I turn around and no one is there.
“Ma’am.” I jump and spin around, and my whole world falls around me.
“Hi, Rylee.”
“No, no. Not again.” I go to scream but everything turns to darkness and then there’s pressure on my mouth. James has put something over my head and has his hand placed over my mouth over the bag.
“I will go into that house and kill every single person you love if you make a sound and don’t start walking.” I sob into his hand. He pushes me along, and within a few seconds, I’m being pushed forward and land on something soft.
“Lay there and shut the fuck up, Rylee.” I lie there sobbing as a door shuts, and then another one opens and shuts. I feel the rumble under me as the car starts, and then we’re moving. The alcohol is making me lightheaded and sick. With the way my heart is beating, I might pass out at any minute.
“Stop the crying, Rylee. You can remove the bag, just keep your head down.” With shaky hands, I remove the bag. The only thing lighting up the car is the streetlights we whiz past every now and then. I can see James from the side, and at a quick glimpse you wouldn’t even know it was him. He has buzzed his hair and dyed it white. It looks nothing like him, but I guess he had to do that to not bring attention to himself.
“James,” I cry. I know it’s pointless, but I still try. “Please just let me go, I won’t say a word. Drop me off here, and I will go back and not say anything.” A sob breaks out of me. I know he won’t let me leave.
He laughs. “Oh, Rylee, Rylee, Rylee. You’re mine and you will come to learn that. We are stopping off somewhere quickly, and then I have a private jet ready to fly us to our future.” He grins. My brain tells me to fight, but my body has given up. I curl into a ball and sob silently. I feel the jolt of the car as we come to a stop, and then James is opening the door. I look up at James upside down.
“Don’t even think about screaming,” he whispers. He keeps glancing around; I sit up but he yanks me by the arm and drags me out of the car. He looks both ways again and pulls me into a tiny apartment. From the outside, you would think it was abandoned, but then we walk down a dark staircase and through another door, which I’m assuming is a basement. James drags me in.
“Sit there and don’t move.” He pushes me down on a chair as a small light turns on above my head. He scurries around the room, gathering up some bags.
He stops at his phone ringing, then pulls it out and yells at whoever is on the other end. “I paid you a lot of fucking money, make it happen,” he snaps before putting the phone back in his pocket. I silently cry as my life crashes around me. Once we leave here, I know that’s it, and as much as I know this is the end of my life, my body won’t fight. I’ve lost everything.
“James.” I sob. “Please.”
“Rylee. Shut up,” he bellows. “We don’t have long, I need to get everything sorted. This would have been planned better if you hadn’t of decided to fucking leave me again and take off on another fucking trip with Cash,” He shouts and stops what he is doing, taking a few deep breaths. “Sit there and shut the fuck up,” He says calmly. I choke out a sob and sit there, bringing my knees to my chest and crying. The thought of never seeing Cash again, seeing Toni, Bridge. Everything hurts as I breakdown while he just keeps rushing around me.
He moves over to a cupboard and pulls stuff out while looking at some other stuff, packing a large duffle bag. A noise comes from behind me, so I glance at James, but he doesn’t hear it and keeps looking through the cupboard. I hear it again, then turn toward the door as it creeps open. My eyes go wide as Cash appears. He puts his finger up to his mouth. He came for me.I don’t even question how. I turn and look at James, but he is still rooting through the cupboards. I turn back to Cash. He signals for me to come to him. I stand up as quietly as I can and take one step, but Cash’s eyes go wide.
