“Kinky.” My brows rose.

“She doesn’t know?” Trey turned to Legion.

“I’m right here.” I lifted a hand.

Both demons ignored me.

“Hemlock Hall. You can ride with us, or I’ll send Kiko at sundown.” Legion lifted a finger, jabbing it in Trey’s direction.

“Yeah. Yeah. No need to set your dog on me.” Trey waved him off.

Legion’s lip twisted in a silent growl before he gestured for us to leave.

“Can I bring my PlayStation?” Trey shouted, speaking to Legion’s back as we walked away.

Legion didn’t answer him as he walked away.

We got in the car, and Legion took a moment to compose himself, pinching the bridge of his nose and muttering something about ‘herding cats.’

We drove out of the city and into the green belt of manicured lawns and trees, as the occasional sprawling mansion spied on us as we passed.

“Are we going back to Hemlock Hall?” I asked.

“Unfortunately, we have one more stop.” Legion pressed the intercom over his head to speak to the driver. “Timkin, can you take us toImpulsein the Seventh Circle.”

“Right-o, boss.” The driver, Timkin, replied.

We sat in silence for a few minutes before my curiosity got the better of me.

“So, are you and Trey a thing?” I asked.

Legion blinked. “Why would you think that?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know. You looked good together.”

“It’s complicated.” He huffed.

“Sure.”

“Let’s concentrate on finding the Fourth and Fifth facets for now, shall we?”

“How many facets are there?” I asked.

“There should be seven.” Legion seemed troubled to admit that.

“Should be?”

He glanced at me without turning his head. “I made the mistake of tarrying when Camio went missing last year. That he simply took a break from city life and found a way to quiet the bond.”

“What happened?” I pressed.

“There was nothing left of him. He ceased to exist.”

“You think the same has happened to the other two stewards, Greed and Envy?” I pushed my hair away from my face.

Legion regarded me like I was an interesting dog that had just revealed that it could sit and roll over. “Quite.”

What do you need me for? The question hovered on the tip of my tongue, unspoken, but Legion heard it anyway.
