Three more thrusts and I follow her into oblivion.

Autumn
After Jonah fucks me in the kitchen, he allows me to clean—but not shower—and redress before we head out. My nerves are frayed and if I could, I would avoid this situation entirely. My father has always been a prick and being outdone isn’t liable to make him any friendlier.
I can’t see this entire scenario going anything but badly.
“Don’t worry,” Jonah says, squeezing my thigh. “I’ll be with you the whole time.”
I nod but I don’t say anything. Jonah knows exactly what I am thinking and feeling. He knows how stressful this is for me. But that goes both ways. I know how important this is to him. He wants me to be able to have my own things, my photographs, clothes, books. I don’t quite understand it, but I love him all the more for it.
Love? Fuck. When did that happen?
In a few short days I have fallen in love with my husband.
“It’s a lot, isn’t it?” Jonah asks.
“What?”
“Realizing you love someone and not knowing how or when that happened.”
I turn in my seat to face him. “Do you love me?”
He chuckles. “I’ve loved you for a long time, Autumn. It was instant lust the first time I saw you, I’ll admit to that much. But I was in love before the first week was over. It’s only gotten stronger over the past year.”
“Wow.”
“I tried to stay away. To let you find someone your ownage but I’m not a good man. I couldn’t stand the thought of another man touching you, having the woman I love.”
“I don’t want another man,” I say quickly. “I’ve never even had a crush on anyone and now I can’t imagine a day without you.”
“I can honestly say I am glad to hear that,” he replies with a wink and a grin.
“Your ego really didn’t need the boost,” I joke.
“It didn’t but knowing my wife loves me in return is a great feeling.”
“I do love you. It doesn’t matter that it’s too soon or that I’m so much younger than you. I know what I feel.”
“And I love you too,” he says right as we pull up to the wrought-iron gate at my father’s estate.
The security guard smiles at me before opening the gate. I can feel the jealousy swimming in my husband’s veins.
“We went to school together,” I say, hoping to placate him. “And he’s gay.”
He shrugs. “You smiled at him. It will take a while for me to be less possessive and jealous.”
I laugh freely at his words. He is always so brutally honest with me, and I love it. My whole life people have been holding things back and keeping secrets. But not Jonah.
My father stands on top of the stairs leading into the house I grew up in when Jonah pulls up. No, this isn’t a house, it’s an empty mansion filled with pretty things, of which I used to be one. This was never my home, it was never filled with love and affection. It was just where I lived.
“Are you ready?” Jonah asks.
“No. But let’s get this over with.”
