I bite my lip, wondering how he plans to get himself out of this situation. He just announced to the media that there is a girl he’s interested in, and the press are going to do everything possible to find the girl who captured the bad boy’s heart.

“We have a bit of a competition going to see who will capture her heart first,” Mac adds.

I groan as the press roars with questions and squeals, everyone shouting over one another. I pinch the bridge of my nose when the reporter asks, “Is there any way you’ll give us the lucky girl’s name?”

Mac holds a finger to his lips and winks. “It’s a secret. How are we supposed to capture her heart with the press is breathing down her neck?”

“Protecting her identity can only earn us brownie points, right?” Dean asks with a devilish smirk.

The reporter titters, but she moves on from questioning the mystery girl’s identity. Thankfully, the reporters don’t bring up the mystery girl again, but I have a feeling that while they may let it go for now, the question will be asked at future press conferences.

Danni bumps my shoulder with a snicker. “Do you know who their mystery girl is?”

I arch a brow. “What makes you think I would know?”

She rolls her eyes. “You are literally over there every day. You would be the first to know.”

I shrug, neither confirming nor denying if I know her identity.

She looks me up and down with an assessing eye before smirking. “Sure you don’t know who she is. I have a feeling I know, though.”

“Who?” I ask, trying to sound uninterested and not give away how nervous I feel. I don’t think she would tell anyone, but that doesn’t mean I want others to know.

She presses a finger to her lips as she backs away. “It’s a secret, didn’t you know.”

My brows knit as I frown. “Danni,” I chastise.

She keeps a smirk on her face. “I’m not telling anyone. Not even you.”

She turns and walks away, leaving me to wonder if she actually knows or not. Given how observant she is, it wouldn’t surpriseme if she’s put it all together. So why hasn’t she said anything? People have lost their jobs over speculation alone before, and this is definitely more than speculation.

Shaking my head, I turn back to the guys. They are wrapping up with the press. Once dismissed, Dean and Mac don’t hesitate to get up. I watch as they make their way toward the exit. The meeting today was held in the Wraiths rink. Which means they have to head down the hallway of offices to reach the exit.

Sighing, I head in the same direction. If I can finish up an hour of paperwork before I leave for the night, I will have time to hang out with the guys.

I leave the press room, mentally going over the paperwork I need to get done, but squeal loudly when I’m jerked to the right and into a dark room. I open my mouth to scream as the door shuts, and lips are suddenly on mine. Making a fist to punch my attacker, I pause when I breath in the scent of cinnamon and cedarwood. Dean. My body relaxes as he kisses me breathless.

I pull away with a gasp, and he leaves a trail of kisses down my throat. Someone else’s hand grips my chin from behind, gentle as he turns my face toward him and presses his lips to mine.

When the sharp scents of peppermint and pine mingle with the smell of Dean, I groan. Mac.

“Fuck, I’ve missed this,” Dean mumbles into my neck as his hands tighten on my hips.

I pull away from Mac with a whispered gasp. “We can’t do anything here.”

Mac huffs in my ear before saying, “We know, Chérie.”

Dean steps away with a pained look on his face. “We needed an uninterrupted moment with you.”

“I can get leave early tonight. Let’s spend some time together at the apartment,” I say hopefully.

Dean and Mac both groan. Dean leans his forehead to my shoulder as Mac presses his into my hair.

“Wish we could, Ice Princess,” Dean says sadly.

“Coach wants us to run a few more drills before we call it a night,” Mac adds.

I sigh and nod. “Alright. But we can still meet up at the apartment tonight. I’ll stick around until you guys are done. I know you don’t want me at the apartment by myself, but we could use some alone time.”
