Dex and Alaric stood in front of the door in their shifted forms.

Alaric’s skin was a rich, dark brown instead of his usual purple troll color. His troll and vampire side had almost morphed into each other. He stood taller and with heavier bulk, and his nose was long and hung close to his thin, dark lips. He had no eyelashes or eyebrows, which made him appear unhinged. He still looked like my Alaric, but on steroids.

Dex’s eyes were redder, and his horns were larger. His skin had a sparkle to it that reminded me of my Incubus dad. It was the sign of a mated Incubus. The scent of lust rolling off him had a lethal edge to it. His fangs were large and glinted dangerously.

Both of them were fucking delicious. The brothers weren’t with them, which meant I was in trouble. My two lovers had been with me from the beginning, and it would be hard to say no to them. But they had sided with Kain and locked me in my room as well, so they were on my shit list.

“No,” I said simply. My voice didn’t sound confident, so they took a few more steps toward me.

“Come on. What do we have to do to get you back? Without you, life is meaningless, my Queen. My heart is fucking broken.” Dex was a smooth talker. It used to be Alaric but with his more dominant, primal side awakened he liked to grunt and piggyback off other’s sweet words. Like he did right now.

I smirked despite myself. I missed them.

“You know I can’t. Not with how things are.” I stepped back toward the edge of the roof. I knew I could survive the jump, after all it wouldn’t be my first time.

“Please, don’t go. I miss you. Let’s just sit for a little while. Please.” Dex’s pleading tone stopped me in my tracks. I couldn’t ignore their needs, and I knew I had to give them this moment.

I sighed and sat back down. The chilled cement was just as inviting as before. The wide hopeful eyes looking back at me made guilt rise up in my throat. I hurt them by staying away.

They plopped down on either side of me. Alaric’s movement shook the cement under him. He winced as his eyes ran over his arms. He must have forgotten he was in his shifted form.

Smiling sheepishly at me, he let his body melt back into his more human form. The sepia-skinned, toned body, with rough hands that I slobbered over wasn’t as bulky but was fucking beautiful. Those hazel eyes were great to see. The way they flashed red, though, said he needed to feed. Again, a wave of guilt hit me. He would only be able to feed off my blood to fill full. Others could keep him alive but never satisfy him. It was the curse and blessing of being mated.

“Can I lay my head on your lap, my Queen?” Dex asked, his tone respectful. I nodded, grateful for his consideration.

Alaric grinned and the way his eyes asked to do the same made me smile. I nodded at him as well. “We can watch the stars together like we did in the tree,” Alaric said as we both lay down. He scooted me over, so I could use his shoulder as my pillow.

Dex snorted. “There aren’t stars, a moon, or a sun in Hell. The only reason we get light is because of the damned souls that the lands feed on.”

I ran my hands through his soft waves. He made a sound like a purr.

“We’re pretending, you ass. Ivy’s favorite thing to do on Earth was watch the stars,” Alaric grumbled as he playfullyshoved Dex’s head, making me pull his hair on accident. Dex didn’t mind. He moved back to my lap, closer to my pussy, which I knew was on purpose. The sneaky fucker.

“Ahh, I’ve never seen the stars on Earth, but I hear they twinkle beautifully. Do you like…” he paused, “what is the study of stars called, brother?”

“Astronomy.” That covered a lot more than the stars, but I loved that Dex was sweet enough to ask.

“No, I didn’t like them like that. It was just something me and my friend did for fun. We’d try to make shapes out of the dots. But the stargazing was always a way to unwind the mind. It was difficult to do much when in hiding. I was too paranoid back then to leave the house most days.” I didn’t know why I was opening up because I couldn’t give in to them. But for a second, I’d enjoy their company.

“I wish I knew what they looked like.” That murmur wasn’t meant for me, but it gave me an idea.

I called on my fire magic. The energy of my Fae side grew just like my demon did with the Goddess-blessed mating, so I didn’t have to ask my magic. The energy rose out of me in sparkles. They formed into small balls and lifted into the air around us. They even twinkled like stars did. If they were more of a white color instead of yellow, they’d look perfect.

Dex gasped. “Stars are my new favorite thing. Hell really needs to get these!”

My body relaxed completely as he began to name off a few shapes he saw. Alaric played along and found a demon face and a cat. That just made Dex even more excited. He saw a panda, flowers, and a cock.

I called on my water magic this time. The energy froze and did the same as the fire. Except when the white balls lifted into the air, they burst. Snow fell around us. The magic didn’t stop or melt. My powers amazed even me sometimes.

Alaric gasped. The smile on his face made my heart swell. He had said once that he and his wolf missed the snow from his home. I wondered if that was still true, and I guess it was. Good.

“What is this?” Dex snuggled closer to me. “It’s cold.”

“That, my friend, is snow. One of my favorite things. My home is covered in this.” Alaric grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

“Damn, I’m missing out on a lot. My favorite things have to do with sex. And I guess writing poetry, but sex with my Queen is definitely the winner between those two.”

Alaric and I burst out laughing. Dex was too much. Ugh, I missed him. I missed them both. That was why I turned and kissed Alaric. It wasn’t because the hunger rose inside of me. When I moaned, the sound set something off inside of us all.
