“Okay.”

I didn’t want to chance my portal appearing under Dominic, so I moved to get out of the shower. I turned back to him with a shy smile, biting my lip. Give me a person to kill and I wouldn’t hesitate, but this kind of shit I wasn’t good at.

“Thanks, Dominic. I appreciate you helping me.” Jeez, that sounded stupid even to my ears.

His smile just grew. “It was my pleasure.”

Seeing as he didn’t get off, I doubted it.

“You’ve got two minutes, and I’m breaking down this door,” Ezra said as he banged on the door again. “I hate it when he does this shit.” There was a slight pause before he continued. “Stop pulling on your dick and get out.”

More footsteps sounded from the hallway.

“What’s going on?” Cole’s voice had me calling on my portal magic faster. There was no way, I wanted to get caught by him, in the bathroom I just turned him down in no less.

Another growl from Ezra had Dominic chuckling. “Dominic felt the need to masturbate in a small ass cabin, so he’s blocking us from the room. I’m cold and want to get clean. Maybe he can traipse around the woods with you looking for the scared little pussycat that you can’t seem to get over.”

They were looking for me outside? How long was I in the shadow with Dominic?

With another bang on the door, their footsteps drifted away. Just when my yellow swirling magic appeared.

I sighed in relief.

Dominic stepped out of the shower before I could hop in it. He leaned into whisper. “Don't let Ezra fool you. He's drawn to you just like we all are. He just doesn’t want to get hurt again. Me, on the other hand, I don't mind a little pain with my chase.”

I gulped. Instead of responding to that, I nodded that I heard him. “Tell Cole that I went home for a few things and to stop searching for me.”

His flirtatious mannerisms lessoned, and his eyes grew pitying lines around them. “I don’t think he’ll ever stop the chase, little demon.”

Fuck, I hoped he was wrong. I wasn’t worth his death.

Chapter

Sixteen

Islipped into my apartment and grabbed more clothes without Beaut noticing. Whatever she was doing, at least it wasn’t in my bed. Once I was back at the cabin, I spent the rest of the night in the room with Brian. After some crying, he agreed to play goldfish with me. He schooled me for sure. My epic failure was worth seeing him smile though.

The only time I had to see anyone was when the woman, their assistant, came to give me food. She seemed sweet, so I made sure to match her energy. I didn’t know her or trust her, but the guys did. I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Who knew, maybe she was a way for Cole to move on. He always had a soft spot for damsels and her blonde hair and doe eyes screamedprotect me.

I stood from the bed. “Alright, buddy, I’m going to sleep right outside the door. No one else can get into this room but me. Try to get some rest, we’ll figure out everything tomorrow,” I told Brian as I turned down the volume of the television. He wanted to watch a movie that he and his mother loved. Even though he was only a child, Brian had an old soul. His dad was murdered the same way his mother was, so he seemed to be handling the loss well. The fact that this was inevitable in his eyes wascrushing, but at this moment, I was glad this attack hadn’t broken him.

When he nodded that he heard me and snuggled into the bed, I left. The bedroom hid a lot of the noise from the other parts of the cabin, so I wasn’t surprised to hear people talking when a second ago everything was quiet. The conversation on the other hand had me stopping in my tracks.

“So, none of you have a woman?” a soft feminine voice flirted loudly.

I closed the door quietly and stepped to the opening of the hallway that let me see into the living room. Everyone faced away from me, so I wasn’t worried about being caught. If there was one thing, I was good at it was sneaking around.

The four others in the house sat on the floor with a pile of blankets and pillows for cushion. A movie played on the TV, but nobody even looked its way. The movie wasn’t one I recognized, it looked like a chick flick, and I tried to stay away from romance movies. If I couldn’t have it in my life, I wasn’t going to torture myself. The alcoholic beverages in their hands seemed to be their focus, though.

“Well, isn’t this romantic?” I whispered to myself low enough that no one heard me. An urge to join them rose, but I squashed it under my feet like an annoying bug. I would ruin the peaceful vibe I was sensing from everyone.

After a few more heartbeats Cole responded. “We don’t have a girlfriend.” I could hear the smirk he wore in his tone.

This made the woman sit up straighter. “Wait. Girlfriend? Like only one for all of you?” Her soft voice had some sass and strength in it. She flicked her blonde hair over her shoulder. Her eyes widened on Ezra like she knew him better than the others.

Cole nodded. “You caught that did you? Yeah, it’s new, but when we decided to become a triad, we knew sharing was a part of that.”

I had to hold back a gasp. A triad? People never did that anymore. The three people had to link their powers and souls together to become stronger, but the strength came at a cost. They would have to be at each other’s sides for their whole lives. They couldn’t be too far away from one another, and if one died, they could all die.
