Lilliana stifled a giggle, and Dean smirked. There definitely was something there I was missing.

“I would appreciate you bringing her to me.” I needed the comfort of my fur baby.

“We got you.” Dean winked, and Ashton growled, making Dean smirk.

“Can we get me out of here now?” I didn’t want to come across as a whining omega, but I needed to get out of this room. “My lion needs to run and let go of all his aggravation and confusion.”

“We are working on that. That was part of what was taking so long.” Ashton kissed my knuckles. “We had to go over all the footage with the captain and his team, link the meeting with GSC so my supervisor could get authorization to use the safe house, and secure the location.”

“Well, I’m ready to head out.” Lillianna put her things away in her bag. “I will be available if you need me, but if that is all taken care of, let’s release my client and get him to safety.”

For the next hour, I stayed silent and let the others handle the paperwork and speak with the officers. I didn’t have much to do but wait for them to finalize my release into GSC custody. I was done, and even if I couldn’t go home, I was free from this place. Finally, Ashton and I were in an unmarked car, heading toward the place I would call home for the foreseeable future.

Turning to my mate as he drove, I couldn’t help but ask the question that was still bugging me. “What is going on between Dean, Willa, and Lillianna?”

“I’m not even touching that subject right now.” Ashton chuffed. “Maybe after we get to the cabin and settle in, I will take you down the drama road that is those three.”

“I didn’t pick up on any drama.” I picked up on some innuendos and heat, but no drama.

“Trust me, there is drama.” Ashton shook his head. “Nine-tenths of the time, Dean and Willa are on the clock, everything is professional, and it’s all about the case. But that one-tenth of the time? There is drama afterward, and Lillianna is almost always somewhere within those flames.”

“Interesting.” I could see the bond between those three and wondered if they would ever mate.

“Don’t get ideas, baby.” Ashton spared me a glance. “Those three will figure it out one day, but we do not have to get involved.”

“Who said anything about getting involved?” I smirked.

“No one.” Ashton shrugged. “But our bond is already strong, and I can feel your need to play matchmaker.”

“Fine.” I huffed. “But if we are still watching them play games in five years, I’m stepping in.”

“I can agree to that.” Ashton pulled off the main road and took a little used path through the trees. “But until then, let’s focus on our bond and keeping you safe.”

“Deal.” I looked out the window and admired the scene passing by. “Are we almost there?”

“We are.” Ashton took another turn and headed deeper into the tree-lined path to the right.

“They won’t be able to find us out here?” I was a bit nervous; the closer we got to the cabin, the more real the situation felt. “Are we secure enough out here? You found the path easily.”

“Don’t fret.” Ashton pulled out of the tree line and entered a small section of cleared land. A beautiful cabin appeared in the middle and stole my breath. “We’re here. But the land is spelled so that only those of us who are supposed to be here can find it. I know all the security team members, and they are the only ones besides us who can access these roads and cabin. You’re safe. Trust me.”

“I do.” I leaned over and kissed my mate on the lips for the first time. “Sorry. I couldn’t wait.”

“Mate,” Ashton growled. “Let’s get everything inside. Then I’ll show you what kind of kiss I can’t wait for.”

“Then what are you waiting for?” I unbuckled my seat belt and threw open the door. “Let’s go.”

“Can’t wait for a real taste?” Ashton chuckled as he followed me out of the car. “Maybe I’ll just do it right here instead of inside.”

Yes, please.

Chapter Eight

Ashton

Leo and I met one another at the back of the car, and I crashed our lips together with all the pent-up passion I had been tempering down since we first scented one another. When his hands grabbed onto the globes of my ass, I broke away from the kiss.

“Although I want to strip you naked right here, I can’t promise that one of the guards we have patrolling the grounds won’t happen upon us, not to mention Willa and Dean.” My partners had driven up the driveway and were leaning against their rental car, watching us make out. Grabbing Leo’s hand, I led my mate toward the cabin. “I’ll grab our bags later.”
