“Oh goddess, no,” I said. “Not yet. He’ll get there. He has the ability; he just needs the practice. Theaccidentshave gone way down since he began training one-on-one with me.”

“Unca Woff,” Xavier said. “Coming?”

“I’m on my way, buddy.”

I let the nanny out and grabbed the pizzas and juice from the entry table. I set them on the living room table and retrieved plates and cups from the kitchen. The dog and cat were at the back door, so I let them out to explore the yard’s boundaries and ensure there were no tears in my brother’s security wards. I appreciated the help, honestly.

“I got our favorite pizza, buddy. One slice or two?”

“One,” Xavier said. “Then surprise?”

“Then surprise,” I said. “But remember, you have to share it with me. Now, what movie did you pick?”

“Spidey.” Xavier went to the couch with his food and started eating.

I joined him and hit play on the remote. “Good. I love the webbed guy.”

“Yummy.”

“It is good, isn’t it?”

“Mmhmm,” Xavier said at half the slice of pizza and started asking about the surprise treat I had promised. “Now?”

“Sure, buddy,” I said. Getting up to grab the box, I sat back down by Xavier and put it in his hands. “Go on, open it.”

I watched as Xavier opened the box to see what was inside. Xavier’s eyes widened, and a squeal erupted from his little mouth. “Cookies.”

“That’s right. Now, remember, you said you would share with me.”

“I ’member,” Xavier said and gave me a big hug. “Lub you.”

“I love you, too, little buddy,” I said. “Now, let’s eat cookies and finish this movie, okay?”

It didn’t take long after that for Xavier to help me devour the cookies, have a mini dance party to some kid show’s music video, and then crash on the couch.

As I sat there and held the little boy in my arms, I slipped off to sleep. Dreams of a little girl and boy running with my wolf welcomed me—a raspberry dragon flying above us. Adorable giggles filled my ears; my heart knew these were my children. Their magic had to be super powerful for them to be able to meet me in the dream plane. I would have to bring that up at the coven later to ensure their training started early. Powerful witches who don’t have the proper training from the start could cause a lot of mischief and danger. And these two—I imagined they could do both.

Chapter Twelve

Ollie

Work was an absolute shitshow. I had to meet with the GSC team, which is usually fine. But this time, everyone talked about meaningless bullshit or made immature jokes. Maybe it was just my mood and the morning sickness making me irritable, but I only thought about how I could have stayed home with my mate.

I wanted to discuss the dream I had last night with him. I could see him and the twins in the dreamscape, which made me worry about our future. These kids would be powerful, and we must ensure we were ready. I knew from Rayne that their cousin Xavier already showed extraordinary powers and had two shifted forms—a wolf and a dragon. Our two may also have the dual-shifting ability. That was rare and a sign significant change was coming.

So instead of my head being in the GSC meeting, I was thinking of all the things I would need to do around the house to make it powerful-baby-proof. I would pull back on my hours with the council and stay home. Luckily, that didn’t sound like a horrible plan to me.

After hours of wasted time, I finally arrived home and couldn’t wait to tackle my mate to bed and ride him for hours. I missed him last night when he was with his nephew. Fuck, these hormones had me horny all day long. Horny or nauseous, it was one or the other.

Opening the front door, an unfamiliar scent met my nose. That scent didn’t belong in our house. Opening my senses, I listened for hints about who was trespassing in my territory. Squeaking bedsprings and illicit moaning had my heart racing.

Please, goddess, don’t let me be the fool that finds his mate fucking some random bitch and ends up in jail for murder.

I walked up the stairs to the bedrooms, silently, praying to the goddess that I was not about to commit a crime of passion. I didn’t even know an excellent place around here to hide a body.

Too bad Alec already went home; he would know that type of thing.

Our bedroom door was wide open, and I took a deep breath before looking.
