“I did what I had to do. It was wrong, and I paid the price for it.”

I stand on my toes and wrap my arms around Draw. He’s so tall, even in human form.

“I couldn’t lose you,” he whispers into my hair. “There are certain entrances that are safe for humans to use, and we’ll take one of them. But I can’t guarantee any of us will survive. If you don’t want to go, I understand. I’ll never hold it against you.”

“I’m going with you. We already decided that.” My voice is firm and calm.

“It’s dangerous, Ivy.”

“Danger smanger. I have three strong protectors. So, when are we going?”

“Now, if you’re ready.”

“One second.”

Lisa throws me a worried look. “Damn, I wish I could help.”

“You are by taking care of Powder. Stay safe, okay.”

She nods

I try to hug Powder, but he only hisses and runs away, jumping on top of a cupboard and throning there like the king he is.

“Let’s go.”

Draw takes my hand. He reminds me so much of the biker guy I used to dream of. Then it hits me. It’s because Draw is the biker guy. Duh. I still don’t understand how the guys became part of my dreams.

“Where are the guys?”

“Outside. They’re waiting in the car.”

The silver BMW is idling. Mrez sits behind the steering wheel.

“I’d like to drive.” I smile at Draw. “It helps with my anxiety.”

Draw smiles back. “Mrez, Ivy drives.”

I’m giddy like a kid. This is my dream car, something I never imagined I’d have the chance to own. Driving it is the next best thing.

“Where are we going?” I ask no one in particular, hoping that one of my hunks will give me an answer.

“The old Fairchild subway station.”

“I don’t know where that is.”

“It’s programmed into the GPS,” Mrez assures me.

“Buckle up, boys. Let’s go.”

I did not intend to make Khal puke with my driving. I swear. It’s just that I enjoyed the ride so much that I lost myself in the moment.

The roads have no traffic on them and are covered in light fog. To my left and right, the forest stretches all the way up to the snowy peaks of the mountains. And to be honest, this wonderful piece of German engineering steals my mind. With each curve, I want to go faster. It leans perfectly into the way the road moves around the mountain. I forgot about everything. Softly purring, the engine vibrates under my chair, sending a feeling of joy through my body. I never knew how much I love speed until now.

When we finally arrive at the station, Khal is three shades greener than usual. Mrez keeps poking fun at him for losing his shit. I can’t stop myself from giggling.

We stop further down the road and hide the car. There’s no need to broadcast our presence.
