“Wrap Ivy in a blanket,” he orders. “Then sit her in this and let’s go.”
“When did you become such a leader?” asked Draw.
“All those years of not talking and listening to you made me want to boss you around.” Mrez looks over at me. “Where’s your girl?”
Then he sees the blood on my fingers and understands. “We will get revenge for all. For Emily. For Griz. For all our friends who died.”
“Revenge,” is all I can say.
Draw wraps Ivy in a blanket and sits her in the wheelchair. Mrez tosses a badge to each of us.
“What’s this for?” I ask.
“Clasp it to your shirt. No one will ask questions if you look as if you belong.”
I nod. When it comes to the human world, it’s better to go with Mrez’s input. He’s fascinated with them and enjoys watching them for long periods of time. I don’t care about that at all.
“Let’s take the elevator. It’s faster.” Mrez pushes the button. As the doors open, we sneak inside with a sleeping Ivy in our midst. The door opens a few seconds later inside the underground parking lot.
Draw looks around. “Where is the car?”
“I have a sweet ride. You’ll love it.”
“Since when do you talk like this?” asks Draw.
Mrez smiles. He leads us over to a new BMW X6, pushes the remote control, and the doors open. We place Ivy on the back seat as she starts to wake up.
“I’ll sit with her.” I put my arm around her.
“Khal, why do I feel so weak?” Ivy whispers in my ear.
“It’s a side effect of the poison. You almost died, love.”
“Please don’t forget about Powder.” She says the words and her eyes close again.
Draw sniffs the air. “Why does this car smell like a cadaver?”
Mrez bites his lower lip. “Well, there was an accident. The owner of this sweet ride was… how should I put it… one of our enemies. He wanted to kill Ivy, so I killed him. It’ll be less suspicious if we take the car and don’t leave a body behind.”
“Let’s get this cat business done already.” I’d rather kill someone than deal with Powder.
I hold Ivy close as we drive. Her soft breath makes my body shiver. There and then, I swear to all the dark gods of the old time that I’ll never let anything happen to her.
Mrez arrives in less than five minutes in front of Ivy’s building.
“Who’s picking up the snack up?” he asked with a smirk.
“You, because you’re the youngest,” says Draw.
Mrez pushes back. “Can’t. I need to check the dead dude’s phone here. So, how about you go?”
It’s my turn to interject. “I know we all hate that damn thing, but Ivy loves it.”
“Good, Khal. You just volunteered.” Draw shifts quickly from solid to Shadow and wraps himself itself around Ivy. She lays her head on his shoulder and continues sleeping.
I kiss her forehead tenderly. She’s gorgeous when she sleeps. She’s only more beautiful when she’s kneeling in front of me sucking one of my cocks.
I turn to full human before I enter the apartment in case someone spots me. Getting in is easy. Sure enough, there’s Powder, dark as night and hissing at me.
