Blood. I smelled blood. It was everywhere, and it was Demon blood.
An Incubus.
Bits and pieces of one Demon who was slaughtered lay scattered around. Blood and hell only knew what else painted a dark picture all over the walls and garbage bin.
I felt her
I knew she was here.
Silver was fighting one of the monstrous wolf shifters, the one with red glowing eyes and a nasty-looking spine. What were those prongs sticking out of them, and what the fuck were those things? Though large and aggressive, I never saw shifters attack and eat Demons. It was unheard of. There are always fights between species, but not at this level, not where one rips the other to shreds and eats it. The rabid-looking wolf pounced on Silver. She removed her glove and placed her hand on its throat. It screamed in agony and moved back. I had no idea she had this type of magic.
Bones grew from their spines and black drool oozed from their mouths.
“What the fuck are those?” I asked my fiancée.
“I have no idea. But they want to take a bite of me.”
Where were those the shifters she traveled with? And if so, why were they so aggressive and tried to attack her?
“Demon, run. You’re not safe!” Silver yelled. “I can’t protect you. These beasts are too strong.”
One of the monstrous shifters lunged at me. I threw my head body back and kicked the wolf fully in its mouth, knocking out a few teeth. At least I hoped I did because my leg hurt from the contact. The beast roared and jumped at me, colliding with me and pushing me to the ground. His large teeth snapped inches away from me.
“I told you!” Silver called to me.
Two smaller wolves, one almost blonde and the other dark, jumped into the fight and attacked the large mutation on top of Silver. The blonde one tore at the mutation’s throat while the dark one, who clutched a dagger in his hands backward, attempted to gouge out its eyes. The mutation ignored them. Even though the spot on its skin where Silver had touched it still smoked from being burned, the thing continued going after her.
A voice sounded over the madness from the blonde. “Have a bite of me!”
A larger man with a sword, who smelled like a wolf, ran full speed into the madness. His sword pierced the mutation’s back, driving the blade through its body and out its chest.
The monster wolf attacking me, and the one struggling with the blonde wolf, yelped and ran away. A shifter lay on the floor where the mutation once stood. He was dead. There was no question about it. Still, he smelled wrong.
“Who the fuck are you?” asked Silver.
Damn, she’s beautiful. My eyes locked on her, her large curvy breasts, her narrow waist, the way her body has that perfect hourglass shape. I stood, shaking the dust off my jacket, looking at her. My soul called out to her. She is my fated one, my soul mate.
Offering a tiny smile, I wrapped her in my arms and pushed her against the wall, kissing her madly. She tastes like cherry and fire and passion and everything I could have ever desired.
The knee in my groin made me step back.
“What the fuck?” someone said from behind me. It must have been one of her shifters.
The large guy who had killed the mutation put a hand on my shoulder. “Hands off Silver, or you get to deal with us.”
“Wait,” asked the blonde shifter. “How could he touch her?”
Silver’s eyes widened. “Yeah, how could you touch me? You should be writhing on the floor in pain. Jacks, try to touch my fingers.”
The male did as she asked. A silver-colored aura appeared like a halo around her, dipping her in a supernatural glow, one that encompassed her entire body. The wolf yelped and pulled his hand away.
“Your shield is still up, Silver.” The large shifter addressed me directly. “Who are you?”
“I don’t take orders from the likes of you. You are in the presence of royalty, and you should act accordingly.”
Silver walked over to me. Her eyes turned demon black, same as mine.
“I am Prince Caspian, son of Behemoth, your future husband.” I took Silver’s hand and kissed it fully. “As much as I would have liked for the circumstances of our first formal meeting to be different, you see, I felt you were in danger and made my way to you immediately.”
