River stepped close to me, put both his hands on my shoulders, and pressed me hard against the wall of one of the buildings. He was so close I wanted to taste him, to lick the sweat that pooled on his chest and the short blonde hairs on his upper arms. Would he taste salty or bitter? I would have loved to feel his taste in my mouth.

River’s mouth was tense, lips pressed in a thin line. “You’re driving me crazy, woman.”

His cock underlined his declaration, pressing against my belly flush and ready to claim me.

“You know we can’t fuck. I’ll burn you,” I whispered, feeling his hair touching my face, his lips hovering over mine, needy, hungry. The tips of his hair singed, causing River to pull back a few inches. Still, his face hovered close to mine.

He bit his lower lip so hard a drop of blood fell onto my own. “What are you doing to me? I want you so bad, Silver.”

The way he said it, the way the need rippled through his body and made me burn inside down to my depths, made me throw my head back.

“Well, that’s bad luck because of my chastity belt.”

River lifted his hand. His palm formed into a fist and hammered it hard against the wall. His hand was bleeding and his cock was still hard. “Do you have your phone?”

“Uhuh,” I replied.

“Text Jacks, please, and send him our location. I can’t run around Miami naked.”

I did. River was right. Besides, I didn’t feel safe alone.

Jacks and Drae appeared twenty minutes later, the longest twenty minutes of my life, because River and I stood there in silence, each doing his best to ignore the other.

Jacks jumped out of the car and ran toward me. “Silver, what happened?”

“I had a run-in with what I think were a few mutated wolves.”

“You don’t know?”

I shook my head. The way Jacks looked at me made me feel as if I was the only person on the surface of the planet.

“River, are you okay?” he asked.

“I’m okay. Those things, man. I never saw anything like that. They looked like some of our people, but they smelled wrong and had spikes, metal spikes, growing on their back. They looked like something out of a nightmare or a horror movie. Our kind doesn’t eat Demon flesh. It’s wrong.”

Jacks tensed. “Silver, after tonight, I insist you stay with us at the packhouse. Do you still want to leave tomorrow morning because that’s in a few hours?”

“I do, if you guys are okay with it.”

“I’d rather get moving now.” I saw it on Jacks face. He meant it.

“I have to stop by the hotel, take a shower, and get my stuff. Would you go with me, Jacks?”

“Yes, sure. Drae, you drive and drop us off at the Hotel. We’ll go back to the packhouse in Silver’s car. Is that okay for you, Silver?”

“Sure.”

The perspective of being alone with Jacks made me shiver and vibrate in a way I couldn’t explain.

As soon as we entered Silver’s luxury suite, I ushered Silver against the wall by the door.

“Let me make sure it’s safe before we go in.”

“Don’t be silly. It’s safe. They have top-of-the-line security. Do you mind if I undress here, in front of you?”
