She began to pace as she waited for her sister’s sure retort then paused at the sound of the bling. You have no idea how serious mom is about you coming home. She needs you for this business and she will have her way. Now I’m going to have to go over there and do her fucking bidding, thanks to you. And I swear to you right now, if I have to do that, William will find things out that you would prefer taking to your grave. Mark my words.
She was bluffing. Rosie typed her back, fingers shaking. Do whatever you need to little sister. I’m done being puppeteered. William knows everything. Well, he would. As soon as she told him.
Get my room ready then. I’ll see you in a couple days.
Rosie shut the phone off and threw it on the counter, anger making her breaths shallow even as fear twisted her guts. She wouldn’t come. They were all bluffing, none of them had a right to make her do anything. She was an adult. She didn’t owe mom or dad a dime. She cut ties, nice and neat and clean. Nothing messy about it, not on her part. They were the mess this time. Not her.
The sound of a rumble jolted her insides, and she hurried to the door, peeking out of window? He was back! Yes!
She paced next to the door, passing her nervous fingers through her hair, then shoved some behind only one ear, making sure the other ear was fully covered.
She opened the door, smiling and ready. Content. Happy. At ease. Royalty. Life owes me. I mean… life is mine to take. William loves me. William loves to take me.
His pretty blue eyes locked on hers as he made his way to the door. As he got closer, his eyes took in her outfit, and she swallowed at the troubled look on his face. It wasn’t until he was before her, his mouth on hers, hands holding her face that she knew he approved.
She clasped his neck tightly, lost in the sudden flurry of passion, his hot gasps moving from her mouth to her cheek to her neck. Right in the doorway. She loved that.
As though he realized, he moved inside with her, his lips returning to hers as he kicked the door shut with a bang and his hands raced over her body in a devouring need. She was suddenly a puddle of yes, yes, yes’s, the back of her feet hitting the stairs. She lost her balance and his strong arms held her, eased her down onto the bottom steps, kissing her with frantic hunger.
Her heart lurched when the sound of her phone reached her. She pulled William’s mouth back to hers. “Leave it.”
He grunted his approval but then the damn thing continued ringing on and on like her stupid sister was standing there with her finger pressing redial nonstop!
He broke away. “It might be important?”
“It’s not,” she assured, breathless. “Let’s go upstairs.”
“At least check, or I won’t…” he sighed, putting his head on hers. “Can you just check?”
“Okay,” she whispered, pressing her lips repeatedly on his. “I’ll check and then…”
“Then you’re in my bed and all mine, Rosie.”
