Chapter Twenty
Rosie
Rosie couldn’t stop smiling as she located a blanket and raced outside, finding a nice warm spot in the sun to spread it. “You sit, I’ll serve,” she ordered, directing him to the blanket.
“I’m royalty now?”
“You’re my Prince, yes,” she giggled as he sat. She leaned down and kissed his cheek. “Be right back with your royal meal.”
She raced inside and dug around the cabinets till she found a tray to set their plates on and made two cups of coffee. “Breakfast, your Majesty,” she announced behind him.
He turned his head, watching with a squinted eye and smiled as she set the tray before him. After settling opposite him, she fixed her legs lady-like, smiling at him as he took a piece of bacon and mmm’d while eying her. “That’s new,” he mumbled, raising his pretty blue eyes to hers after heating her nipples with his long stare at her chest.
“This old thing,” she muttered before busting out with laughter. “I’ve always wanted to say that.” She chomped hungrily on a piece of bacon. “Perfection,” she bragged, bringing a slice of toast to his mouth.
Her heart fluttered in her stomach with his sexy smile as he leaned and took a bite. “What?” he asked, reaching for his cup of coffee.
She smiled, feeling like a young school girl. But she wasn’t a young school girl, she was his and she could say what she was thinking. “You’re just so damn cute, I can’t believe you’re mine.”
He slowed chewing, eyeing her with a sexy smile. His blond hair lay across his forehead, making his blue eyes seem even brighter. “I can’t believe it either,” he mumbled, soberly.
“I was thinking a vegetable garden right there,” she pointed to the right, not wanting things to turn too serious. She surely didn’t want him thinking about that woman. But God, how would he not? This was their home. Ever since she’d learned who Maria was, Rosie couldn’t help but see her everywhere she looked, see little William everywhere being made to do vile things. It suddenly haunted every room, every closet, making Rosie fight garish images of sexual abuse forced upon a sweet boy. Her William, sitting right there, still very much trapped in the past.
Only now she was there with him. She could change that if she could get the devil out of his life. Their life. There was clearly going to be a rescue mission before they got on with their happily ever after’s. But that was okay with Rosie. She’d take the good with the bad, the clean with the dirty as long as she got William in the deal.
Rosie suddenly lunged forward and kissed him, not caring he had a mouth full of food.
“You’re a strange one, aren’t you?”
She pulled back a little, studying the blue in his eyes. “Why?” she finally asked, smiling.
“That you seem to think my nightmare life is some dream come true.”
She suddenly sat back. “I didn’t mean to say your nightmare life was a dream.”
He lowered his head and shook it. “No, I didn’t mean that.” He smiled at her. “I meant my life is a disaster and here you find it something amazing.”
“I don’t think your disasters are amazing,” she went on, hating how that sounded.
It was his turn to lunge at her, silencing her explanations with his lips. “Rosie, Rosie,” he muttered on her mouth. “Nosy Rosie has landed herself in a mess and she loves it.”
She took hold of his face, kissing him with hunger, pulling him onto the blanket. “I love this mess,” she whispered, showing him just how much as she pushed with her kisses till he lay beneath her, under her control.
“So bossy,” he gasped, as she straddled him and held his hands down at his head. She pulled up and smiled, but only briefly at seeing the desire heating his eyes.
“And you like it,” she observed, grinning.
“More than …”
He closed his eyes, and she quickly kissed him. “More than what? More than a million M&M’s? More than a bajillion copper pennies in a wishing well?”
She released his hands and held his face, back to kissing him again. He roamed his hands along her body, pulling her tight to him when his hands cupped her butt.
“Oh,” she said, at feeling his arousal pressing into her. “Somebody is hungry.”
“Starving,” he said, leaning to kiss her more.
“I could raise this shirt you know and nobody would even realize.”
