“That’s our ride,Javier. You’d better get to Church before Odin has your balls.”
Fang glowered at Tessa before cursing under his breath and stomping toward the stairs.
Tessa pulled Fae behind her, and they were out of the clubhouse and compound, and into the black SUV Uber in a blink, a full night of shenanigans ahead of them.
Hawk relayed to Odin and Trouble the information Madden had sent him.
“This Banshee fucker sure has some balls on him,” Trouble ground out, his jaw clenching.
Odin grunted. “Or he really is the psycho we think he is. Why else leave a package at the front desk of the hotel where Carrie is staying? There are cameras all over that lobby.”
“What was in the package?” Hell Hound asked.
“Pictures of Carrie and Fae together. The fucker drew a red line between them on each one. There was a letter, too.”
“I’m almost afraid to ask what it said,” Hell Hound grumbled.
Hawk pulled out his phone, clicked on the message Madden had sent with a screenshot of the letter, and began reading.
“Now that the imposter has parted from the prize, I can finally have my way. She’s no good for you anyway, treasure. She’s a liar. A thief. Making deals behind your back. I’ve seen her. I’ve been watching. You will be mine soon, my Aoibheal. My Queen. And once I have you, there will be nothing stopping me from caging you, making you sing for only me.”
It was signed “Your Adoring Banshee.”
Silence met the last words, then—
“That’s fucked up.”
“Psycho fucker.”
“Goddamn.”
“He’s gearing up to make a move.”
That last one was Odin, stating what Hawk had been fearing for the last several days. Since the head delivery, Banshee had been silent. AFK hadn’t been able to find anything about anyone else staying at the motel who stuck out.Everyoneat the motel stuck out. And it wasn’t like there was a Google alert for “crazy stalker.”
“What was it he said ‘bout an imposter? Liar. Thief. Makin’ deals? What is he talkin’ ‘bout?” Trouble asked, his expression pinched in confusion.
“I have no fucking idea, but I do know that he’s happy that we split the sisters up. We actually did him a favor, pulling Fae out of there,” Hawk replied, pissed that anything he’d done to protect Fae might have done more damage to the situation.
“How do you know he wanted Fae gone and not Carrie? He didn’t say which one was this…imposter,” Odin inquired.
Hawk grit his teeth and answered, “It’s been speculated that he’s been watching the studio, which means he’s been watching the hotel, too. He’s admitted to it right there in writing. He’s seen Fae coming and going with Preston and Dragon. He knows she’s coming back to the clubhouse every night, which means he knows it’s just Carrie at the hotel. Through a quick process of elimination, this package was meant for Carrie.”
“So that makesFaean imposter? What is she supposed to be fakin’?”
Good fucking question, Trouble.
“And what deals is she makin’? She doesn’t seem like the kinda person to make any kinda deal. She goes to work, then she comes here. She has no life, makes no contacts outside of our circle, and she has no footprints in anythin’ even slightly illegal. The girl is squeaky clean.” Hawk couldn’t deny Trouble’s observation.
But….
That doesn’t mean she isn’t hiding something ugly, deep down.Like Shannon. She’d been all charm, light, laughter…then she’d been vile, vain, and vindictive. From his experience, the capacity for wrong was easily hidden under the façade of right.
But Fae wasn’t like that…she didn’tfeellike that. Not once had he ever felt anything but good from her. Like a blanket of warmth andhome,he wanted to wrap around himself.
“None of this makes sense, brother,” Odin sighed, squeezing the bridge of his nose. “Make sure the cops get the package—a gift from SP to LVPD. We got what we needed from it, so we can keep digging. In the meantime, Hawk, keep an eye on our Fae. I can’t help but think there’s more to what Banshee is spewing.”
The door opened, and Fang slid in, closing it behind him. He looked fucking pissed.
