He opens his mouth to speak, but quickly wrinkles his nose. “Oh, gods, you stink.”

“What?” I ask sharply.

“You smell like—” His eyes sweep to Kyven behind me. “Are you all right?”

“Of course I am. Why would you think I was not?”

Raiden grips my arm. With a heavy groan, he sits up in the bed.

“Lie down,” Draymon commands. “I am not finished.”

Ignoring him, Raiden stands. He hisses through his teeth in pain before leveling a dark glare at Kyven. “We received word that your newhusbandtook you to the Great Wall.”

I blink several times. “How on earth did you hear of this?”

“That does not matter,” Lukas says darkly. “We decided to come at once check that you were safe.”

Lukas stalks toward Kyven, and jabs an accusing finger at his chest. “We entrusted her with you, and you took her to the most dangerous place in the seven kingdoms. What were you thinking?”

Kyven’s eyes are black with rage, his fangs and claws fully extended. “We had no choice,” he grinds out.

“We took a detour because—” I start, but Raiden cuts me off.

“That’s my sister, Fae King! And if you think I’m going to leave her with you when you take such little care with her safety, you—”

“Enough!” I place myself between them. “This is ridiculous,” I chastise, eyeing my brother and Lukas. “You could have just sent a raven like a normal person if you wanted to check on me. You didn’t have to come all this way just to—”

“How could I trust a raven?” Raiden asks. “He”—he points at Kyven—“could have sent any message he wanted to make us think everything is fine.”

“It is fine,” I counter. “We’re happy, and I love him.”

Raiden’s head jerks back. “You what?”

Lukas pulls a small pouch from his tunic and before I can ask what he’s doing, he opens it and flings a puff of glittering blue dust in my face.

Kyven pulls me behind him. A deep rumbling growl fills the air as he bares his fangs at Lukas.

Blinking, I sneeze several times. “What in the seven hells was that, Lukas?”

His eyes remain locked on Kyven’s as he grits through his teeth. “An enchantment breaker.”

“You really think I would cast a spell on my mate to make her love me?”

“I don’t know.” Lukas cranes his neck to look at me. “Do you still love him?”

Kyven snarls.

“Yes,” I reply, completely exasperated. Crossing my arms over my chest, I glare at him. “Do you believe me now?”

He exchanges a look with Raiden, and they both nod. Lukas turns back to me. “Yes.”

Draymon places a firm hand on Raiden’s shoulder and pushes him back to sit on the edge of the bed. “I need to finish tending your wounds.”

“Fine,” Raiden grumbles. “Go ahead.”

“What happened?” I ask. “Does Edmynd know you’re here?”

Raiden and Lukas exchange another glance, guilt easily read in their features.
