Shayna rolled her eyes at her. “Stop it, Kenz! This is Ty, and his big brother, Cash.”
“Nice to meet you, Ty! I’ve heard a lot about you already.” She shook her head. “Shay said you were hot, but damn!” She turned Cash. “And you!Pleasetell me that you’re single, sugar. Not asking for myself,” she added with a wink. “But holy shit, you’re going to make some lucky ladyveryhappy.”
Cash threw his head back and laughed. “I’m single, honey – but that’s by choice, and I intend to keep it that way.”
Kenzie blew out a big sigh. “Well, that’s a damn shame. When you change your mind, you be sure to come back and see me, okay?”
Cash chuckled. “Okay.” He turned to Davin and Alexis. “What are you having? Tonight’s on me.” He raised an eyebrow at Davin. “If that’s okay.”
Davin nodded, and Alexis laughed. “Wow. I’m not sure I like being relegated tolittle-lady-who-the menfolk-pay-forstatus.”
Cash made a face at her. “Come on, bud. I let you be you when it comes to the important shit in life. Let me be me when it’s no big deal?”
Shayna watched their exchange with interest. She’d already noticed – it’d be hard to miss – that Cash was a lot like Ty in many respects. He was protective, had impeccable manners, and behaved like a very old-school gentleman in some ways.
She loved that Alexis patted his arm as she said, “Okay. I’ll be good and just say thank you.”
Cash grinned at Davin. “She has no more idea about how to be good than I do.”
Davin laughed. “True, but if I were you, I’d take the easy win and move on.”
When they all had their drinks, Davin looked around the crowded restaurant. “This may not have been the best idea if we want to be able to talk while we eat.”
Kenzie caught Shayna’s eye. “Would I be right if I guessed that this little gathering is about your stalker problem?”
Shayna stared at her for a moment, wondering how she could have known.
“It is,” said Ty. “What do you know about it?”
Shayna was worried that he sounded kind of blunt, but Kenzie grinned at her. “Damn! Sexy as hell and all gruff and protective, too? You lucked out! I hope you’ve said thank you to April.”
Shayna had to laugh. Davin leaned in and said, “Focus, Kenz. Do you think you can find us a quiet table anywhere?”
“Sure.” She turned to Shayna. “We can set you up with a picnic bench out on the back deck. If you want to give me a hand, we can move one around the corner away from the main doors – no one will disturb you out there and it’ll be quieter. You might have to take care of the table yourself, though. I mean, we can get your food out there, but you’ll get your drinks quicker if you come in and out the back door yourself.”
“Sure. I can do that. And you stay right where you are. I can take care of the table.”
Ty frowned. “We can set the table up. You don’t need to …”
Alexis laughed. “Let’s argue about it when we get out there, shall we?”
It didn’t take long to get a table set up. Shayna and Alexis let the guys take care of moving it, and Shayna soon had menus and cutlery and everything else they might need.
Ty frowned at her when she asked what everyone wanted. She knew that he wanted her to have a night off, but it was just simpler if she ran their order into the kitchen – and they’d get to eat sooner, too. They needed to have their talk about what she was going to do, but she was eager to get this dinner over with and get him back to her apartment – to bed.
When they were finally all settled and had their food – Ty had helped her to carry everything out, much to Kenzie’s delight – she looked around the table. Cash caught her eye and winked.
“Thanks, honey. This looks great, and I’m starving.”
“The food here’s really good.” She frowned when she remembered. “Where are you staying?”
He chuckled. “I’ll get myself a room right here at the resort. You don’t need to worry about me.”
Alexis laughed. “No, butyoumight need to worry about Kenzie. If that girl sets her heart on finding you a woman …”
“Not happening,” said Cash.
Alexis shook her head. “Are you telling me that you’re still holding out for …?”
