Sending him flying towards the group.
He huffed when they all dodged and kept coming at him.
Double fuck.
The biggest of them barrelled into him, knocking the wind from him and sendinghimflying.
Right into Hella’s door.
He grunted as he crashed through it, landed on his back and used the momentum to his advantage. He rolled heels over head to hit his knees, ending up facing the doorway as he came to his feet and the nymphs shoved into the room.
Behind him, Hella shot to her feet. “What the hell, wolf? You led them straight to me!”
He grimaced at how furious she both sounded and felt on his senses, wanted to look back at her, but feared what he would find. There went his plan. Rather than being grateful, she was madder than ever at him, and sure, he got why.
But it didn’t stop her from spelling it out.
“I’m in hiding, you idiot.” She cuffed him around the back of his head and he flinched and glared over his shoulder at her.
She glared right back at him, her emerald eyes bright with silver and gold stars that shifted and swirled. Magic charged the air, the tinny scent of it strong, and he hoped to the gods that she wasn’t about to unleash it on him because they had bigger problems to deal with than her being upset with him.
“Stay back.” He held his left arm out before her.
“I will do no such thing,” she snapped.
Kin glanced over his shoulder at her.
And was blinded as she unleashed a bright bolt of red light from her hand.
He reared away from her as he blinked hard, clearing his vision in time to see the spell strike the nymphs. A huge crimson glyph appeared, shaped like an octagon with a star inside it surrounded by circles filled with a large symbol. Electricity pulsed in the air and then a thick beam shot from the glyph.
Knocking every nymph flying and clearing a path to the door.
Kin could only stare as she went on the offensive, casting a glowing green orb at one of the nymphs who had ended up hurled to the right of the room, close to a rickety bed. The second it hit the male, he screamed and contorted.
“Look out!” she yelled and he swivelled towards the door just as a nymph kicked off and plunged a dagger towards his chest.
A wall of pale blue interlocking hexagons appeared between him and the nymph, and the male grunted as he slammed into it and staggered backwards, losing his grip on his dagger as he tripped and fell on his backside.
Incredible.
A thrill bolted down his spine.
He had never fought beside a female before, got a little caught up in her as she directed another blast at the nymph before he could recover, hitting him with the same green orb she had used on the one in the corner, ripping a high-pitched scream from him.
In his world, females didn’t fight.
But then, she was nothing like the females in his world.
She was something else.
Something incredible.
Amazing.
She waved her hand over her belongings and everything flew into the carpet bag, and then it shot into her grip and she was moving.
Leaping clear over the fallen nymph near the door.
