“I thought you were supposed to stop that shit after you two got hitched. Doesn’t marriage change everything?” Devon remarked, striding in behind James.

Devon circled around to my right and kissed my temple before waving to Grady for a beer.

“How’s it goin’?”

“It was going great until we took a trip down memory fucking lane,” I mumbled, contemplating switching back and ordering my seventh margarita.

“Let me guess: the professor and the lipstick?”

“Oh, that’s the best one.” James laughed, sidling up on my left and next to the barstool Hazel vacated.

“No, I think the one when she—”

Tired of hearing about my past transgressions, I slapped my hand over James’s mouth and glowered up at him. His blond hair was perfectly styled as usual and he was still wearing the suit he’d worn to work. He’d probably only just left the office and met the boys at the bar.

“We’re done reliving my past. Can we all agree, please?”

James rolled his eyes but nodded, so I slowly removed my hand. I jerked my glare to Josh, who nodded and then to Devon, who innocently sipped his beer.

“Thank you all. Anyway, Grady, I think I need another margarita after dealing with these guys.”

“You know you love us, Manda,” James quipped.

He perched his head on top of mine and smoothed his hand down my opposite arm.

“You trying to steal my girl, Larson?”

James turned and a smile broke across his face. “Oh yeah, Gregory? You callin’ dibs?”

“You know it,” Reed said and slapped our friend on the back.

In another second, his golden-brown eyes were on me, and I suddenly forgot how to breathe. The scruff along his jawline was longer than usual, and for some reason, the first thing to cross my mind was the memory of how that scruff felt against my inner thighs.

A delicious shiver coursed through my body as I remembered the roughness.

And like he knew what I was thinking, Reed flashed me a wicked grin.

“You having fun, baby girl?” His voice was low, and I nodded as James and Devon went to find an open pool table. Reed took up the barstool to my left, and his thigh brushed mine.

I turned farther to the front and took my water between my palms.

“Hey, Sunshine. I think I need a shot of whiskey and a beer.” It was Reed’s go-to order no matter where we went because you’d have to be the worst bartender in the world to fuck it up.

Josh’s eyes bounced between me and Reed, his hesitance obvious, but he ultimately turned to pull the whiskey from the glass shelf behind the bar.

“Girls’ night was good?” Reed asked when Josh turned away.

“It was until all of this testosterone showed up.”

He tilted his head back and laughed, showing off his perfect Adam’s apple and toned neck. There was a vein running from below his ear and disappearing under the collar of his shirt, and my tongue tingled with the reminder of his reaction when I’d run my tongue over the line of it. He’d lost his mind with desire and tossed me to the bed when I’d bit into his chest muscle.

Unfortunately, I knew I’d never forget that damn night. It was going to haunt me for eternity.

Josh slid the drinks across the bar and replaced my water. “Looking a little thirsty there, babe. Figured you could use another.”

My face flamed. Of course Josh had seen me watching Reed. Those men watched and dissected my every move and word like it was going to tell them some essential information about me. Or about what was going on in my head, which I knew was what they both wanted.

The frustrated set to Josh’s eyes was made even worse by the jealousy burning within them. He hadn’t missed my gawking, but hadn’t he also noticed earlier that I was doing the same thing to him?
