Millie laughs, her eyes twinkling. “Guess not. But I’m glad she knows.”

I nod, grinning. “Yeah, me too.”

Lily’s eyes sparkle with mischief. “Are we in the mood for some pastries, Millie?”

Millie’s smile widens. “Absolutely. What kind do you have in mind?”

“Maybe some fresh cinnamon rolls?” Lily suggests, her excitement palpable.

Millie’s face lights up. “Cinnamon rolls it is!”

As Millie and Lily start pulling ingredients out of the cabinets, I take a seat at the kitchen table, watching them work. Millie’s moving around the kitchen with ease, chatting with Lily as they prepare the dough and fill the kitchen with the smell of baking cinnamon and sugar.

Millie is a whirlwind of activity, snapping pictures of each step for her social media page. “I’ve gotta show everyone how we’re making these,” she says, holding up her phone for a quick shot of the dough being rolled out.

I chuckle. “You’ve got a natural talent for this stuff.”

Lily giggles, her eyes focused on the task. “We’ll make sure everyone knows how awesome our cinnamon rolls are.”

Millie’s concentrating on spreading the cinnamon mixture over the dough, her movements fluid and practiced. I can’t help but admire how effortlessly she fits into our lives.

As they work, I watch the way Millie and Lily interact, noting the easy camaraderie between them. It’s clear that they both enjoy each other’s company. Millie’s been a wonderful addition to our lives and seeing how much Lily adores her only makes me more certain that I made the right choice.

“Smells good in here,” I say, leaning back in my chair. “Can’t wait to taste these.”

Millie glances over at me, a playful glint in her eyes. “Well, you better be ready. We’re making enough to feed an army.”

Lily laughs, adding another sprinkle of cinnamon to the dough. “And we’re not stopping until we’ve made the best cinnamon rolls ever.”

I’m content, watching them work together. It’s moments like these that make me realize how lucky I am. Millie and Lily have both brought so much joy into my life and I’m grateful for every moment we share.

As the cinnamon rolls bake, the kitchen fills with a warm, inviting aroma. Millie and Lily are in their own little world, chatting and laughing as they clean up. I can’t help but feel a deep sense of satisfaction, knowing that this is where I’m meant to be.

When the timer goes off, signaling that the rolls are ready, Millie pulls them out of the oven, her face glowing with pride.

“Look at these,” she says, holding up a tray of golden-brown rolls. “They look perfect.”

Lily claps her hands in excitement. “They’re going to taste amazing!”

Together the girls pour the glaze frosting over the top of them to complete the cinnamon rolls.

We all sit down at the table and I watch as Millie cuts the rolls and serves them. Each bite is just as delicious as I expected and I can see the happiness on Lily’s face as she enjoys the treat.

“This is the best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had,” Lily declares between bites.

Millie smiles, her eyes sparkling with happiness. “I’m glad you like them.”

As we finish up, I take Millie’s hand and give it a gentle squeeze. “Thank you for today, Millie. It’s been perfect.”

Millie looks at me, her smile warm and genuine. “Anytime, Declan. I love spending time with you and Lily.”

Lily finishes her last bite of cinnamon roll and looks up at us. “Can we do this again soon?”

I nod, wrapping an arm around Millie and pulling her close. “Absolutely. We’ll make it a regular thing.”

Millie’s head rests on my shoulder and I feel a deep sense of contentment. We’re building something special here and I’m excited for what the future holds.

As we clean up and start to wind down, I look around at the life we’re creating together. It’s messy and imperfect, but it’s ours and I wouldn’t change a thing.
