We get up and start to get ready, feeling refreshed and happy. The day ahead is looking pretty damn good.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Finn
Chase had to run to the vet clinic, so it ended up just being Millie and I heading out for breakfast. Not that I’m complaining. I take her to this cozy little diner I know, where we order pancakes and bacon.
As we wait for our food, I pull out my phone and snap a few pictures of Millie, catching her mid-laugh and with a mouthful of bacon. I send the photos to our group chat, aptly named the Bed Squad.
Chase replies first.
>>Damn, looks like someone’s having fun without us.
Declan chimes in.
>>Enjoying breakfast, are we? Don’t forget to bring her back in one piece.
I grin and type back, >>Don’t be jealous. I’m taking her shopping after breakfast. You’ll all be thanking me soon.
Millie laughs beside me, leaning in close to read the messages. “You’re such a tease,” she whispers, her eyes sparkling.
“Just giving them a hard time,” I say, slipping my arm around her waist. “You okay, though? I know you said you’re sore.”
She nods, wincing slightly. “Yeah, a bit. I’ll manage.”
I think for a moment, then get an idea. “How about we hit up a spa before shopping? I could use a massage too after the game.”
Her eyes light up. “Really? You’d do that?”
“Anything for you, baby,” I say, kissing her forehead.
We finish our breakfast and then I drive us to a nearby spa. Millie’s eyes widened as we walked inside, the calming atmosphere already making her relax. I book us a couples’ massage and we’re led into a private room.
Once we’re on the massage tables, I turn my head to look at her. “Feeling better already?”
She smiles, her eyes half-closed. “Much better. This was a great idea.”
The masseuse works on my back, easing the knots and tension from the game. I glance over at Millie, watching her relax and enjoy the treatment. Her body, marked with bruises and love bites, is a testament to the wild night we had.
After the massage, we both feel like new people. I help her get up and we get dressed. “Ready for some shopping?” I ask, taking her hand.
She nods, looking much more at ease. “Definitely.”
We hit up a few stores, and I spoil her with clothes, shoes and anything else she shows interest in. Millie’s laughter and excitement make it all worth it. I snap more pictures, sending them to the group chat.
Chase sends,>>Damn, Finn. You’re making us look bad.
Declan contributed, >>Better bring her back with some energy left for us.
I laugh, typing back, >>No promises.
Millie glances over, reading the messages. “They’re relentless.”
“They just miss you,” I say, pulling her close. “Besides, they’re gonna love what I have planned for later.”
She raises an eyebrow. “Oh? What’s that?”
I smirk. “You’ll see. Let’s just say they’ll be very thankful.”
