I’m sure she’ll have a different view on life by then.

“Yes. I’ll be thinking about your proposal. I’ll think about it tonight.”

No way.

“I’ll take a shower, make myself a cup of tea, and think,” I say, smiling.

“You’re such a clown,” she says, laughing,

“I am not. Seriously, I’ll be thinking about it.”

But mostly, I'm thinking about how to get under that gorgeous man again.

“Okay… Whatever.”

“Get some sleep.”

“Mind your own business.”

I’m glancing at the time again. It must be two in the morning over there, but arguing with her is futile.

“Do whatever you want,” I toss at her.

She chuckles.

“Okay. Bye,” she says, and we end the call.

I never thoughthis message would wreck me.

I read it twenty times. I practically stared at it for ten minutes before typing and erasing my reply fifteen times.

No word has left my phone.

After going from effusive words, such as…

‘I’m happy you’re back.’

“Can’t wait to see you.’

‘Are you sure you can make it on time?’

I tested a few cold, dry replies like…

‘See you there.’(As if I knew where ‘there’ was)

‘Sure. I may be late, though.’

‘I’ll have to check my schedule and get back to you.’

And then I played a little with…

‘I have other plans.’

‘Tonight is not good for me.’
